Vale | Michael Jenkins – Screen Producers Australia (SPA) acknowledges the sad passing of Australian writer, producer, and director Michael Jenkins this week.
Michael’s contributions to the Australian screen industry were extensive. He is credited as the writer and creator of the 1993 original feature film The Heartbreak Kid and as the executive producer of the Australian international hit Heartbreak High, which ran from 1994 to 1999.
Michael contributed to many SPA member productions, including Endemol Shine Australia’s 2017 drama series Blue Murder: Killer Cop, for which he was credited as producer and director, and Fremantle Australia’s acclaimed International Emmy Award-winning 2022 reboot of Heartbreak High, for which he had full producer credits.
We offer our condolences to Michael’s family, friends and colleagues.
Michael’s legacy will live on through audiences enjoying productions he worked on for generations to come.
