JOHANNA – A VIEW OF HUNTER VALLEY
Sydney is one of the most expensive cities in the world to live in and, for many of us, buying a home there is completely out of the question. But two hours away you’ll find a tranquil paradise that’s fast becoming a popular alternative…and the average family home here is half the median price of Sydney! This week, Johanna is finding out all there is to love about living in the Hunter Valley and the pros and cons of making it your home.
ADAM – SERVICE WITH STYLE
Whether you use it to serve drinks, display knick-knacks or corral all your craft supplies, a drinks trolley can add loads of sophistication and storage to your home…but they can be expensive to buy from the furniture store. Adam’s showing you how to build your own for a fraction of the cost. Made with solid radiata pine and simple joinery, this simple project will elevate any corner at your place.
COLIN – SWORDFISH STEAKS WITH GREEN OLIVE SALSA VERDE
Colin’s sharing a simple recipe that makes the most of a fish most of us aren’t used to cooking with. He’s pairing swordfish steaks with a green olive, caper and herb salsa verde, plus some yummy pickled fennel, and the result is fresh and full of flavour.

CLARISSA – FIVE KINDS OF MUSHROOMS + TOMATO & EGG STIR FRY
Clarissa’s sharing two dishes that take under 30 minutes to make, combined. First up is a tomato and egg stir fry with an unusual secret ingredient you’ll never guess. Paired with a mix of mushrooms cooked with garlic and oyster sauce, it’s a marriage made in foodie heaven.
CHARLIE – BASICS TO GOOD GARDENING
If you love gardening, visiting the nursery is a little like being a kid in a candy store. There are so many beautiful plants around and it’s tempting to come home with loads of them, but that would be a BIG mistake. You need to do your homework first, which means choosing plants that suit your soil and conditions. You also need to consider the type of mulch you’ll be using, whether your incorporating things like pebbles or river stones in your flower beds…and a whole host of other things, too. Charlie’s sharing the tips you don’t want to go to the nursery without.
GRAHAM – THE WELL-KEPT SECRET OF SEFTON HALL
Graham’s travelling to NSW’s Blue Mountains to check out a true hidden gem. Sefton Hall is one of eight surviving ‘foundation’ houses of the Mount Wilson Conservation area. Built in 1912, it was once a summer retreat for Sydney’s elite and visiting both the home and its surrounding gardens is like taking a step back in time. Painstakingly restored to its former glory by its new caretakers, this private garden is not normally open to the public, but they’ve opened their doors to the Better Homes and Gardens audience for an exclusive tour.
JULIET – MAKE YOUR MARK, BOOK ART
You don’t have to be Monet or Picasso to make stunning wall art and this week, Juliet’s showing you how. She’s turning the pages of an old book into a statement piece for your walls – no drawing or painting skills required. Plus, she’s got a great idea for turning artificial flowers into a stunning 3D sculpture.
DR HARRY – LIZZIE THE SKINNY CHOOK
Dr Harry’s visiting a family with a chicken problem. One of their chickens, Lizzie, is losing feathers, has stopped laying eggs and just looks sad. The family think she might be depressed. Can Dr Harry figure out if poor Lizzie has any medical problems…or does she just need a good therapist?
