GRAHAM – A PLANT TO DIE FOR
This January, thousands of people from across the world were on tenterhooks, afraid to leave their computer screens in case they missed a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Well, once in a few years, at least. At Sydney’s Royal Botanic Gardens, an endangered plant known as the ‘corpse flower’ was about to bloom for the first time in 15 years. This rare plant is known for its putrid smell and only flowers for about 24 hours before it withers and dies.
Join Graham as he shares all the behind-the-scenes gossip on the plant affectionately known as ‘Putricia’…stuff you wouldn’t have seen in the live streams. Plus, we check out some of Putricia’s relatives and answer the question everyone’s asking: when will Putricia bloom again?
CHARLIE – SUBURBAN BLISS
There’s one question behind every great garden: what are the best plants for the local conditions? If you get this right, your garden is pretty much guaranteed to be a success…and Charlie’s found a suburban front and back garden that prove it. He’s in Sydney’s eastern suburbs to take a look around a stunning oasis with the perfect plant palette…and it was created by a pair of homeowners with no professional training in landscape design or gardening. Featuring a perfect blend of coastal and tropical plants, plus an internal courtyard with a plunge pool, Charlie’s finding out how these homeowners were able to create such a magical space.
