The three pairings put the show’s central question to the test: how much faith does a parent have in their grown-up child’s knowledge? Their answers matter because a parent must judge the child’s ability before the questions are answered, with charity prize money at stake.
Who is playing tonight?
Scott O’Halloran teams with his dad Dave. Horse trainer and businesswoman Gai Waterhouse plays alongside her daughter Kate, while Dave Thornton is joined by his mum Ineke. Each pair brings its own family dynamic to a pop culture contest in which knowing the person beside you can be as important as knowing the answer.
Shaun Micallef hosts with his son Gabe. Their father-and-son partnership mirrors the teams facing the questions, with Gabe helping keep time and score as the families work through the quiz. Tonight’s guests are a new line-up rather than a return of last week’s competitors.
How does the family quiz work?
Each round presents a topic, then the parents bid on how many questions they believe their grown-up children can answer correctly. A cautious bid might underestimate a child; a bold one could leave a parent wishing they had shown less confidence.
