Tonight | Shaun Micallef’s Parents’ Evening on 10: family faith faces its first test – Shaun Micallef’s Parents’ Evening premieres tonight at 7.30pm on Channel 10 and 10 Streaming. Shaun and his son Gabe host a comedy quiz where knowing your family can matter as much as knowing the answer.
Episode one brings Ray Martin and daughter Jenna into the game alongside Joel Creasey and his mum Jenny. Reality television personality Callum Hole also competes with his dad Phil.
The twist places confidence between generations at the centre of the competition. Parents must judge how much their adult children know, so an ambitious bid can turn family pride into a risky strategy.
The premiere’s three family teams
Veteran journalist Ray Martin teams up with Jenna for the opening edition. They face comedian and radio host Joel Creasey, whose mum Jenny joins him at the quiz table.
Meanwhile, Callum Hole brings his father Phil into the contest. Viewers may know Callum from Love Island and I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!
All three pairs tackle pop-culture questions. However, this is not simply a race to show who has the broadest knowledge. It also tests how well each parent understands their child’s strengths.
How Parents’ Evening works
Each week, three well-known Australians team up with a parent or adult child. Once a topic is revealed, the parent predicts how many correct answers their child can give.
A successful prediction wins money for the family’s chosen charity. An incorrect answer sends that money to another team’s charity instead. As a result, faith in a family member has a direct consequence for the score.
Tonight’s premiere promises high-stakes bidding, buzzers and moving chairs. Alongside the charity cash, family pride and bragging rights are on the line.
Shaun and Gabe share hosting duties
The father-and-son hosting partnership reflects the show’s cross-generational premise. Shaun steers the comedy while Gabe joins him to guide the families through the game.
Later episodes will feature Jessica Rowe, Amanda Keller, Abbie Chatfield, Felix Cameron and Brett Blake. For the premiere, though, the focus is on the Martins, Creasey and his mum, and Hole and his dad.
