Tonight | The Death Coast on SBS Viceland and SBS On Demand: Final Dive for Lost Treasure – Tonight on SBS Viceland, The Death Coast reaches its final episode as shipwreck hunter Jeff Mackinnon returns to the wreck that began it all.
The Death Coast is a dangerous stretch of rough sea in the North Atlantic. Across the centuries, it has claimed more than 6,000 vessels. Many sailors braved these waters for trade, war and plunder, leaving gold and priceless objects scattered across the ocean floor.
For years, salvaging was banned in the area. Now, after a long battle, Jeff Mackinnon has won exclusive rights to dive. He and his team have just 12 weeks to search the wrecks before the turbulent waters make diving impossible.
In the final episode, titled Unfinished Business, Jeff returns to The Chameau. It is the wreck that started everything. He searches for its elusive stern and a pay chest containing 20 million in rare coins.
However, a series of finds leads the team to suspect the stern may be covered by another shipwreck. With time running out, Jeff must complete the mission his father started decades ago.
