Shaun Micallef’s Origin Odyssey returns to SBS in August – Shaun Micallef is heading back on the road with six prominent Australians for a new season of Shaun Micallef’s Origin Odyssey.
Season two premieres Tuesday, 18 August 2026, at 7:30pm on SBS. New episodes will also stream weekly on SBS On Demand.
The return gives SBS another locally made factual entertainment series built around identity, migration and family history. It also keeps Micallef in a space that suits his dry humour, while letting each guest explore personal stories that stretch beyond Australia.

Who appears in season two?
The six-part season follows Micallef as he accompanies Pia Miranda, Denise Scott, Matt Okine, Luke McGregor, Kate Langbroek and Tony Armstrong to places connected to their ancestors.
The season opens in Italy with Pia Miranda. Together, Miranda and Micallef trace her Nonno’s footsteps and search for places tied to her Nonna’s life.
Denise Scott travels to Germany to examine family history she says she has largely overlooked. Meanwhile, Matt Okine travels to Ghana to better understand his father’s early life and his own connection to that heritage.
Luke McGregor heads to Scotland for a search shaped by humour, awkwardness and family discovery. Kate Langbroek returns to Jamaica for the first time since she was 18, reconnecting with her maternal ancestry.
Tony Armstrong travels to Ireland, where he meets relatives for the first time and reflects on links between Irish history and his Aboriginal identity.
