Set against the backdrop of post-Revolutionary Russia, the drama follows Count Alexander Rostov, played by Ewan McGregor.
After losing his title and material wealth, Rostov is placed under house arrest for life inside Moscow’s Metropol Hotel. What begins as confinement becomes something far more powerful.
Inside the hotel, the Count forms unlikely friendships. He also experiences fleeting romance and discovers the hidden wonders of the Metropol through the people around him.
As the years pass, he learns that true riches are not found in status or possessions. Instead, they are found in love, courage and community.
The final episode, titled Adieu, brings the story to a critical point.
With a major event in Paris just days away, the Count begins plotting a future for himself and those he loves. He and Anna devise an elaborate plan, but the consequences could be devastating if it fails.
Meanwhile, the situation in Paris becomes increasingly fraught. As they wait for news, the tension builds, and the Count must decide how far he is willing to go for freedom, family and love.
