NT Leaders’ Debate Tuesday 20 August on Sky News Australia – Northern Territory Chief Minister Eva Lawler and Opposition Leader Lia Finocchiaro will face off for the final time at the Sky News NT Leaders’ Debate, supported by the NT Chamber of Commerce.
Sky News Australia Chief News Anchor Kieran Gilbert will moderate the one-hour debate on Tuesday 20 August at 4:00pm ACST / 4:30pm AEST, live from Darwin.
As the final debate before Territorians head to the polls, the Sky News NT Leaders’ Debate will provide audience members with the opportunity to put questions directly to the two leaders on their vision for the Territory.
Kieran Gilbert said:
“This final debate between the leaders comes at a crucial time in the election campaign, just days out from NT voters going to the ballot box. A stumble or mistake could prove devastating in the final stages of the NT campaign as many voters are making up their minds.
“With elections looming in Queensland, WA and of course the Federal poll within the next year, political observers around the nation are looking at this election very closely. The question being asked – will this be the first of the mainland Labor governments to fall, and what lessons will there be for other election races over the coming months?”
NT Chamber of Commerce Chief Executive Greg Ireland said:
“The word on the street and around the barbeque is that this Territory election is going down to the wire and many voters will make their decision as they walk into the ballot box. The value of this debate is the opportunity to focus on the future economic settings for the business community, as the engine room of the NT economy, this must be a strong focus for both leaders.”
On Saturday 24 August, as NT residents head to the polls, Sky News will deliver comprehensive live coverage and analysis during NT Decides featuring an expert election night panel including Kieran Gilbert, Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell, Shadow Minister for Indigenous Australians & CLP Senator Jacinta Nampijinpa Price, and NT MLA and former NT Deputy Chief Minister Nicole Manison. Sky News Chief Election Analyst Tom Connell will be live throughout the evening with rapid results and an in-depth breakdown of the votes as they’re counted minute by minute.
