This episode of Married At First Sight starts unlike any other – with a video diary entry from Jesse at 1:15 am.

And honestly the only thing that could make this more ominous is if it was in night vision.

“Holy s—, big f—ing drama,” Jesse huffs.

“I just lost my sh–. I was literally just at a point where I could not control my anger. Why would you do that?”

Do what Jesse? Stop teasing and tell us what’s happened!

After a bit more wallowing, Jesse finally spits out what he’s talking about.

Jesse explains that a bunch of the MAFS brides and grooms went out for drinks and he noticed Adam and Claire getting a bit touchy feely.

“The point where it became a problem for me is when they left the table the two of them to go outside and be alone,” Jesse adds.

Jesse says that after going missing, Claire finally returned to their shared apartment hours after he got home.

“She eventually walks in the door, she’s got the phone on loud speaker and I heard this big bellowing laugh, a typical Adam-like laugh,” Jesse recalls.

After Claire refused to tell Jesse who she was on the phone to, Jesse reveals he took matters into his own hands by banging on Adam and Janelle’s door and demanding to see his phone.

Jesse admits the last thing he said before walking away from Adam: “Janelle, you’re with a snake.”

The next morning everyone tries to make sense of the 1am disturbance.

Adam says Jesse was “bang out of order” while Janelle admits she didn’t “realise Jesse was that insecure”.

And as for Claire, she’s beside herself.

“I am mortified, I can’t believe that happened. He caused an absolute scene,” she vents to cameras.

“It’s embarrassing the way he demanded to see my phone, I will not tolerate that.”

Claire wants Jesse to apologise for his outburst and says “no one has anything to answer for other than Jesse”.

Jesse “resents that he’s been made to feel like the crazy, insecure jealous one” and thinks his behaviour is justified “under the circumstances”.

The pair go round and round in circles until Jesse realises he’s not getting anything out of Claire, so he decides to pack his things and move out.

Unsatisfied with the lack of answers Jesse tells cameras “there’s so many missing pieces of the puzzle”.

While Claire and Jesse’s relationship is in tatters – yet again – thanks to whispers of foul play on Claire’s end, the other couples are given a brand new Confessions Week exercise – the Phone Swapping task.

Janelle and Adam

As the name suggests, the brides and grooms have to hand their phones over to their partners and it comes at the best – or worst – time for Janelle and Adam following accusations Adam was secretly calling Claire.

While Janelle says she’d “happily give Adam her phone”, Adam starts clamming up at the mere sound of the task.

“It’s just something that I don’t do,” he tells Janelle.

“We’re going well at the minute as well so I don’t even want to cause any unnecessary friction.”

I’m no body language expert but I’d say Adam’s hiding something.

By some stroke of luck or manipulative genius, Adam convinces Janelle that it would actually show more trust if they didn’t show each other their phones.

And on that note, the couple rip up the challenge card into tiny pieces of confetti, throw them into the air and you can see the wave of relief sweep over Adam.

Caitlin and Shannon

After Shannon’s bombshell admission to Caitlin that he’s still in love with his ex, the couple is trying to figure out what that means for their relationship.

Caitlin is feeling “disappointed” and “emotionally detached” while the chain of events have been a huge wakeup call for Shannon.

“I need to grow up, I need to change my life. I need to fix myself,” Shannon reflects.

“I want to be in this experiment for the right reasons. I need to grow some balls and give this girl an opportunity.”

With a newfound attitude, Shannon swears to Caitlin that he’s in the experiment for the right reasons… starting now.

He then backs that promise up by saying he was only keeping his ex “on the fence” in case things between him and Caitlin didn’t work out. How reassuring.

Caitlin “wants to run” but she decides to give Shannon a second chance anyway.

Melissa and Josh

Melissa and Josh have a busy day ahead of them, they have to do the Letter Writing task, the First Impressions task and the Five Year Plan task.

And as they progress through them, each task goes worse than the last.

In his letter, Josh reveals “something he hasn’t spoken about before”. He gets deeply emotional about the breakdown of his marriage and the identity crisis that followed.

After Josh pours his heart out, Melissa quickly brushes past his letter and decides to “dive straight in” to hers. It’s a move that leaves Josh “disappointed”.

Next up, Melissa and Josh tackle the First Impressions task where they watch back wedding day clips revealing what they first thought of each other.

Unsurprisingly, Josh’s first impression of Melissa is very sweet, he speaks about Melissa’s warmth and shares how giddy he felt when they held hands.

EPISODE 6 RECAP: Two grooms are put on trial at the first Dinner Party

But Josh is less than impressed when Melissa’s clip plays and all she talks about is how she hopes Josh is a “freak in the sheets” and has “a big hammer”.

“It was a lot, I’m a bit shocked. It’s not what I was expecting to hear,” Josh admits.

“Now I can’t quite shake that I’m just seen as a sex object here.”

But things come to an explosive head when the Five Year Plan task rolls around.

The couple are asked to share their top priorities – ranging from property to pets – for the next five years.

When ‘having a healthy sex life’ crops up in Melissa’s five year plan and not Josh’s, the couple begin to butt heads.

Josh is frustrated that Melissa continues to place so much emphasis on sex while she reiterates that sex is “non negotiable” for her especially after her first marriage was “loveless and sexless”.

“I’m sorry if you can’t keep up then there’s the door,” Melissa says.

Josh says he feels “ambushed” by Melissa’s ultimatum.

But there’s a glimmer of hope when Melissa sits down and decides they should both explain what they need to “fill their cup”.

Josh says he already knows how to fill Melissa’s cup but I think what exactly Melissa’s cup is filled with is best left to the imagination.

EPISODE 5 RECAP: Confusion brews over one couple’s wedding night rendezvous

He thinks the problem is that Melissa doesn’t know how to fill his cup because she’s taken no interest in him whatsoever.

He follows that claim up with a very simple question: “What do I do for a job?”

There is radio silence from Melissa. And after what seems like an eternity, the best answer she comes up with is: “I don’t know”.

If you ever doubted that Josh was the burly Thor Melissa asked for then here’s your proof, because the man starts absolutely raging.

“You know what I’m f—ing absolutely out of my mind angry,” he bursts.

“I am a man and I’m not a f—ing disposable sex toy.”

Married At First Sight continues Monday to Wednesday at 7.30pm and Sunday at 7.00pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.
