Matt Hobson ditched 9-to-5 grind and hatched the idea to open a true-blue craft spirits distillery. Working with local businesses and an ambition for low waste, Sunshine & Sons was born, with Matt creating a range of spirits that reflects his pride in the Sunshine Coast. His open-door policy encourages guests to drop by for a taste and see how the spirits are concocted.
Coffee lovers Sean McGowan and Kevin Fraikin took over the family-owned Montville Coffee business to keep its legacy alive from their base in Caloundra.
As an ethically operated business, Montville Coffee creates an environment where community and coffee intertwine. Sean and Kevin are passionate about educating their customers by allowing them to connect with the source of their coffee to understand why it is so good.
Ali Khan’s journey began in Rajasthan when at the age of 7, he acquired a single camel. This started him down a path that soon saw him running his own hotel in India where his future wife Xochi would design the interiors. Years later, on a family trip to the Sunshine Coast they stumbled upon Narrows Escape Luxury Rainforest Retreat and decided to call this place home. With a focus on sustainable practices, this relaxing space allows guests to connect with nature and take a break from the rat race.
We also meet Kate and Dennis Poynton, the brains behind Cruise Maroochy. This fun-loving family creates a guest experience that is both educational and delicious. As Dennis mans the barbecue, Kate coordinates the party. Their aim is to showcase the secrets of the Maroochy River in hopes that their passengers will come to love it as much as they do.
