Treasure & Dirt on ABC TV unearths murder, corruption and buried secrets in the outback – A brutal murder in an isolated opal mining town sets the scene for ABC TV’s new crime thriller Treasure & Dirt, premiering next month.
Based on the bestselling novel by Chris Hammer, the six-part drama stars Michael Dorman (Territory, For All Mankind) and Liv Hewson (Yellowjackets) in a mystery set against the harsh backdrop of the Australian outback.
Premiering Sunday 19 July, Treasure & Dirt takes viewers to the dust-choked opal mining town of Nulla, where the shocking beheading of a local miner draws big-city detective Ivan Lucic into a complex investigation.
Assigned to assist him is rookie detective Nell Buchanan, a local who understands the town’s secrets, corruption and hidden power structures far better than her city counterpart. As the pair dig deeper, they uncover a surreal underworld of greed, buried truths and old sins that refuse to stay hidden.
Michael Dorman leads the cast as Ivan Lucic, alongside Liv Hewson as Nell Buchanan. They are joined by an extensive ensemble including Sarah Peirse, Thomas M. Wright, Mark Mitchinson, Eamon Farren, Kelton Pell, Steve Le Marquand, Dean O’Gorman, Ling Cooper Tang, Elena Carapetis, Kris McQuade and Glenda Linscott.
Produced by Easy Tiger for the ABC in association with the BBC and the South Australian Film Corporation, the series promises a gripping blend of crime, mystery and outback noir from one of Australia’s most successful crime authors.
With murder, corruption and long-buried secrets at its core, Treasure & Dirt looks set to become one of the ABC’s major drama premieres of 2026.
Treasure & Dirt premieres Sunday 19 July at 8.30pm on ABC TV, with all six episodes available to stream on ABC iview.
