Tonight | Class Clowns on ABC: teenage poetry and a tug-of-war against real kids – Class Clowns sends its comedians back to their teenage years tonight, then onto the sports field against real students. The episode airs at 8.30pm on ABC and ABC iview.

Under the watchful eye of Principal Julia Morris, six of Australia’s favourite comedians compete for the Class Clowns Cup. With episode five of six, only one week remains after tonight.

That puts extra weight on every task. The teams are now competing for the last points before the final week, so each assignment and sporting challenge matters.

Class Clowns opens the old diaries

First, Show and Tell returns. The comedians bring their high school diaries and journals into class for reflection.

Next, fuelled by adolescent angst, an English assignment asks the teams to write and perform poetry based on their teenage years.

A Class Clowns Sports Day showdown

Then it is straight into Sports Day. The comedians face off against teams of actual kids in three chaotic tug-of-war battles.

One team takes on fifteen Year 1 students. Another takes on five Year 7 students. Meanwhile, one unlucky team takes on two Year 12 students.

The mix of personal reflection and physical comedy gives the episode two very different tests, from performing old teenage feelings out loud to pulling against a crowd of energetic students.
