Tonight | Class Clowns on ABC: Richard Bell judges the portraits – Principal Julia Morris sends the comedians through art and science lessons as the Class Clowns Cup continues. A high-stakes egg drop comes before artist Richard Bell judges portraits of the principal. It airs Wednesday 21 October 2026 at 8:30pm on ABC, with streaming on ABC iview.
The school format lets the six comedians revisit the subjects they once studied, with each task exposing a different skill. This episode shifts from childhood artwork to physics and finally to painting under pressure.
Show and tell becomes a science test
Morris begins by exploring her students’ artistic pasts through a show and tell built around their childhood artworks. A written exam follows before the teams head outside for a physics challenge. They must build vehicles designed to protect an egg from a fall from the third storey. The test asks them to turn classroom knowledge into something that works in practice.
Portraits under pressure
The comedians return to art class to paint flattering portraits of Morris. Special guest judge Richard Bell examines the results, while one team faces an added disadvantage: its members must paint with their non-dominant hands. The combination of an expert judge, an awkward restriction and a subject who can see the finished work gives the task its comic tension.
