It’s Andrew! season 2 begins production for ABC Kids and ABC iview – A second season of the Australian-linked preschool animation It’s Andrew! is now in production, just months after the series launched on ABC Kids and ABC iview. The ABC, Screen Australia and Canada’s CBC are backing another visit to Hornsby Downs, the world where a young rhinoceros finds his place in a family of unicorns.
For Australian families, the announcement confirms that Andrew’s story will continue, but it is not yet a season-two premiere date. The ABC says more episodes from the first season are still to come next year. Meanwhile, the existing episodes remain available to stream on ABC iview.
The renewal follows more than 20 million viewing minutes on ABC iview since the show’s June launch. That figure comes from OzTAM National Total TV’s When Watched data for 1 June to 1 October 2026. It measures time spent viewing, not a count of individual viewers.
What season two will bring
Andrew is a rhinoceros adopted by a unicorn family high above the clouds in Hornsby Downs. He does not have the same magical abilities as his relatives and friends. Instead, imagination and creativity help him turn difficult moments into adventures and find his own way through everyday problems.
The new season will reunite Andrew with his littlecorn friends, his mother Dasha, grandfather Captain Wonderful and teacher Ms Horn. The ABC has not supplied an episode count, an Australian launch date or storylines beyond the returning characters. That leaves the current production announcement as the confirmed news, rather than a viewing-date announcement.
ABC Head of Children & Family Melinda Wearne said the series’ themes remained central to its appeal.
We’re delighted to welcome Andrew back to ABC Kids for a second season. This original series explores themes of belonging, confidence and self-discovery with warmth, humour and heart.

An Australian-led international production
It’s Andrew! is an Australian-Canadian-Singapore co-production by Pirate Size Productions, Mainframe Studios and Infinite Studios. The ABC and CBC commissioned the series in association with Radio-Canada. Major production investment comes from the ABC and Screen Australia, with support from the Canada Media Fund and Mainframe Distribution.
Pirate Size Productions co-creators Dan Nixon and Alyssa Smedley welcomed the return to Andrew’s world.
We’re thrilled It’s Andrew! is going into production on Season 2.

The co-creators said preschoolers need warm, relatable stories that help them make sense of their world. Screen Australia Director of Narrative Content Louise Gough also praised Andrew’s optimism and confidence, saying the series encourages children to embrace what makes them unique.
Meanwhile, CBC Kids executive Marie McCann pointed to the show’s messages of kindness, inclusion and friendship. Radio-Canada executive Christiane Asselin described the partnership as a way to bring those themes to young audiences across countries and languages.
When can families watch It’s Andrew!?
Season two is coming to ABC Kids and ABC iview, but no Australian premiere date has been announced. In Canada, the new episodes are planned for CBC TV and CBC Gem in 2027, while a French-language release on Radio-Canada platforms is planned for 2028. Those overseas dates should not be taken as a confirmed Australian timetable.
For now, Australian viewers can watch season one on ABC iview and look out for the additional first-season episodes due next year. For more TV Central ABC news, head here, and visit It’s Andrew! on ABC iview for the episodes currently available.
