Better Homes and Gardens on Channel 7 and 7plus S31E23 – the storylines for this Friday’s episode 23 airing 7pm on Channel 7 and 7plus.

JOHANNA – WHERE DOES OUR WATER COME FROM?
We drink it, bathe in it, clean with it and use it on our garden…water is a central part of every aspect of our lives, but have you ever stopped to think about how it gets to the tap? And how clean is it…really? Johanna’s on a journey to find out how water travels from the dam to a filtration plant and finally to our homes, plus how it’s tested and treated in the process. You might be surprised how little you know about the water we drink every day of our lives.

ADAM + JULIET – COSMETIC BATHROOM MAKEOVER: FUNCTION, FORM & FOCUS
Bathrooms are one of the costliest rooms in the house to renovate…especially if you’re replacing things like tiles or reconfiguring the space. So how do you give your bathroom a whole new look on a tiny budget? Adam and Juliet are teaming up to show you how. They’re giving a daggy 80s bathroom a cosmetic makeover, without a whole lot of demo. The finished result looks like a completely new, luxe space. Along the way, they’re sharing heaps of great ideas to revamp your bathroom for next-to-nothing.
DR HARRY – LIFE OFF THE TRACK
Racehorses are born champions, but what happens when their career on the track is over? Dr Harry is visiting international thoroughbred stud, Godolphin Australia Aberdeen, to explore their Lifetime Care program, which works to retrain and rehome these amazing animals. Whether it’s taking part in therapy or rehabilitation programs, retraining for a new career – like show jumping or dressage – or just retiring to a grassy paddock, these
horses have exciting new lives ahead of them…and a whole lot more love to give.
COLIN – SLOW-COOKED BEEF CHEEKS WITH COUSCOUS
There’s nothing tastier than slow-cooked beef…except the couscous it’s served with, if you ask Colin. He’s slow-cooking beef-cheeks in a flavoursome broth of red wine, star anise, thyme and veggies until it’s melt-in-your-mouth tender. The leftover broth is then used to cook the couscous – and it tastes so much better than traditional couscous. Served with mustard, parsley, mint and capers, this dish is easy, delicious and guaranteed to impress.
CHARLIE – BACKYARD BOTANIC GARDEN
One of Charlie’s most frequently shared tips as a landscape designer is to make sure you identify your environment, climate and soil before you choose plants or design. This week, he’s visiting a stunning garden which really shows us why this simple logic is such a gamechanger. Peter Nixon is a renowned landscape designer and plantsman and his ‘Seachanger’ garden is a true testament to gardening with your environment in mind. Located on NSW’s Central Coast, he’s created a cool-climate subtropical oasis which is truly flourishing and Charlie’s here to learn more.

MELISSA – A DAY AT TORELLO FARM (MORNINGTON PENINSULA)
The Mornington Peninsula is made up of an eclectic patchwork of small farms growing an astounding array of produce. Depending on the season you can find everything from apples to truffles, berries, goat’s cheese, olives and more, all locally grown. But what if you could find all these farm fresh goodies in the one spot? That’s the vision behind Torello Farm, which has been owned by the Brancatisano family since 2016. What was once 11 hectares of neglected and weed-infested land has been turned into the ultimate market garden. Melissa’s here to check it out and to sample some of the delicious produce on offer.
GRAHAM – SO MUCH TO LOVE ABOUT LILIUMS
They’re big, bold and beautiful, so Graham’s going to teach you everything you need to know about liliums. At his favourite flower field on the outskirts of Melbourne, Graham finds over half a million flowers blooming with vibrant colour and filling the air with their sweet perfume. He catches up with an old mate, Tim Drewitt, whose family have been growing liliums and flowering bulbs for the last 50 years. Liliums can be grown just about anywhere, so Graham’s showing you how easy it is to plant these glorious flowers at your place.
MELISSA – SHORTCUT – DANGLING DRIED FLOWER DESIGN
Dried flowers aren’t just beautiful; they’re more cost-effective and low-maintenance than the fresh cut variety…and this week Melissa’s sharing a unique way to incorporate them at your place. She’s creating a wall hanger that’s perfect for displaying them. With just a couple of lengths of dowel and some string, you too can create a super simple frame in no time, perfect for displaying your newly dried florals.
ADAM – SHORTCUT – MIND THE GAP
No matter how well your kitchen cupboards were put together, over time they can move, leaving uneven gaps between the doors. If this has happened at your place, don’t worry, it’s an easy fix and Adam will show you how.
