Stacks of Cash confirmed for Channel 7 as Fremantle reveals Australian commission – Fremantle confirms a Channel 7 commission. Eureka Studios created this large-scale quiz and physical-stacking format.

The news comes from Fremantle’s international format announcement rather than a separate Channel 7 program launch. It confirms an Australian series alongside a US order from CBS and an existing Portuguese edition. Seven’s host and premiere date remain unannounced.

For Australian audiences, this is more than a format under consideration. Fremantle identifies Seven as a commissioning broadcaster. The program has a direct local development link. Seven Network (Operations) Limited shares its development credit with Eureka Studios Group Pty Ltd.

How does Stacks of Cash work?

Contestants answer general-knowledge questions to earn oversized objects carrying cash values. They then use a giant claw to position each object on a rising, unstable tower. A fall can bring the stack, and a contestant’s progress, undone.

More than 30 shapes may appear, including a circle, a teddy bear and a top hat. Players do not know which shape comes next. As a result, the format mixes quiz performance with judgment and balance. The higher the tower grows, the more cash is at risk.

Eureka Studios co-CEO Chris Culvenor described the idea as a familiar mobile stacking game writ large. He paired the towers with rapid-fire questions. He said the company was pleased that both CBS and Seven had backed the concept.

What is confirmed for Australia?

Fremantle has confirmed the Channel 7 commission and says an Australian host will be announced later. Industry reporting by Advanced Television describes Seven’s order as six one-hour episodes. Fremantle’s public announcement does not specify an Australian broadcast slot, premiere date, prize ceiling or casting process.

The US version has a 10-episode order and a named host, actor Mike O’Malley. In Portugal, broadcaster TVI has already launched the format as Linha D’Ouro. Fremantle says the opening episode led its timeslot across total viewers, commercial targets and young adults. Later episodes also topped TVI’s daily rankings.

A shared international production hub

Fremantle says the Portuguese, American and Australian editions have used a dedicated production hub in Portugal. That approach lets broadcasters share a large-scale set. Each version can still have its own host, contestants and local character. The giant claw and tower require a substantial set. Sharing it is a practical part of Fremantle’s international strategy.

Fremantle will take Stacks of Cash to MIPCOM in Cannes. Its slate also includes another Eureka-created game show, The Tunnel. The executive producers include Chris Culvenor, Paul Franklin, Rikkie Proost and Sonya Wilkes. David Tibballs, Ves D’Elia and Ed Egan also serve.

Channel 7’s own launch announcement should clarify the Australian host and premiere date. Until then, the commission itself is confirmed by Fremantle, while those details remain unannounced.
