Recap | Dancing With The Stars on Channel 7 and 7plus S22E5 – Television royalty sent packing. Rebecca Gibney departs Dancing With The Stars in audience-voted twist.
Tonight on Dancing With The Stars on Seven and 7plus, the first batch of celebrities returned to the floor for a royal celebration, with acting royalty Rebecca Gibney exiting the competition.
In a special episode celebrating the kings and queens of song and dance, our celebrities performed to some of the most iconic singers in the world as they tried to avoid elimination.
Kicking off the show, Rebecca bought the drama and passion with her paso doble to Whitney Houston’s Queen of the Night, earning 28 points. Mark Wilson was pleasantly surprised by Rebecca’s improvement but said she lacked paso body shapes.
Radio host Brittany Hockley delivered a truly terrific tango to Kylie’s Padam Padam, scoring herself 33 points.
Mark Wilson was impressed with how quickly Brittany has taken to dancing, giving her his royal wand of approval.
Judge Sharna Burgess was floored by boxing icon Harry Garside’s hard work and dedication to dancing, as he performed a sensual rumba to John Touch of Paradise. Receiving 25 points, Harry failed to impress Craig Revel Horwood, who found his dance disconnected.
7NEWS presenter Michael Usher took to the floor with a graceful Viennese waltz, to Adele’s One and Only. Earning a solid score of 29, Craig said Michael brought grace and class to the dance.
Helen Richey got her flirt on with AFL legend Trent Cotchin, who embodied Elvis for a rocking Jive. Donning his own Blue Suede Shoes, Trent topped the leaderboard as all four judges raved about his performance, with Craig admitting “I loved it”.
After the studio audience votes were combined with the judges scores, Harry Garside was lifted from the bottom of the leaderboard, and we said goodbye to Rebecca Gibney. Rebecca thanked her dance partner Ian, while adding: “The amount of work that goes into this show, costumes are amazing the make up is amazing. Everyone from the judges, the production crew and everyone behind the scenes – it’s mindboggling how extraordinary everyone is and I’m going to miss it.”

Dancing With The Stars continues next Sunday, the second group of celebrities – including as Home and Away star Kyle Shilling, influencer Mia Fevola, TV comic Shaun Micallef, radio host Osher Günsberg, and comedian Felicity Ward hit return to the dancefloor for second half of the kings and queens of song and dance celebration.
