RUNNER trailer reveals Queensland-shot action thriller – VVS Films has released the RUNNER trailer. The first look features Alan Ritchson and Owen Wilson in a new action-thriller shot in Queensland.

RUNNER opens nationally from September 10, 2026 in cinemas.

RUNNER brings together a ticking-clock story, high-stakes action and a strong Australian setting. Meanwhile, the production shot across Brisbane and the Gold Coast. As a result, its city streets, urban energy and coastal landscapes help drive the film’s visual style.

In the film, Alan Ritchson plays Hank Malone. Hank is a high-end courier with only three hours to complete a life-saving delivery. He must transport an organ for a seven-year-old girl who needs an immediate transplant.

However, the mission soon turns deadly. A notorious crime syndicate wants the organ. Suddenly, Hank has to fight to keep the delivery on track.

Meanwhile, Owen Wilson co-stars as Ben Bishop, the medical courier travelling with Hank. Their forced partnership adds humour and tension to a story built around danger, speed and survival.

Also, the cast includes Rodrigo Santoro.

Queensland drives the action

The RUNNER trailer puts Queensland at the centre of the story. Brisbane and the Gold Coast give the film a bright, fast and distinctly Australian backdrop. Because of that, the local setting does more than fill the background.

In addition, writers Miles Hubley and Tommy White worked with the filmmakers on the Queensland setting. They reshaped the script around the energy of both locations. As a result, the film blends a global action premise with a local setting for Australian audiences.

The team behind RUNNER

Scott Waugh directs RUNNER. His previous credits include 6 Below: Miracle on the Mountain, Hidden Strike and Expend4bles.

Todd Garner of Broken Road Productions produces alongside Mark Fasano of Nickel City Pictures. Jeff Greenstein of A Higher Standard and Deborah Glover of G2 Dispatch also produce.

Finally, with Alan Ritchson leading the action, RUNNER looks set to deliver a fast cinema ride. Owen Wilson brings a different energy, while Queensland plays a major role.

RUNNER opens nationally from September 10, 2026 in cinemas.
