UFC on ESPN Grasso vs Shevchenko

UFC on ESPN – The UFC Women’s Flyweight Championship goes on the line this Sunday September 17 in a huge UFC Fight Night when Alexa Grasso defends her title against #1 ranked contender Valentina Shevchenko and Australia’s Jack Della Maddalena chases another win live on ESPN.

UFC Fight Night: Grasso vs Shevchenko 2 sees almost nine hours of live UFC coverage this Sunday on ESPN, with the UFC Fight Night: Prelims beginning live at 9am AEST, before the UFC Fight Night: Main Card follows live at 12pm AEST.

Sunday’s Main Event is headlined by UFC Women’s Flyweight champion Alexa Grasso defending her crown in a rematch against former champion Valentina Shevchenko.

Grasso captured the Flyweight championship after submitting Shevchenko at UFC 285 back in March. Having gone into that fight as a significant underdog, the 30-year-old continued her five-fight winning run by claiming UFC gold.

The Mexican fighter will now make her first title defense against the former Flyweight champion – in an event celebrating Mexican Independence Day.

Sunday’s co-main event sees Australia’s Jack Della Maddalena featuring against Kevin Holland.

Della Maddalena is currently ranked #14 in the Welterweight division and is hoping to continue his climb up the UFC rankings – Holland, ranked #13, is the first step in that quest.

The Australian has had a quick turnaround, last entering the Octagon on July 15. Della Maddalena took a split decision that night against Bassil Hafez, earning ‘Fight of the Night’ honours.

Della Maddalena has 15 straight wins in his career and remains undefeated since entering the UFC.

Kevin Holland has strung back-to-back wins together having settled back in the welterweight division. The American needed just one round to dispatch Michael Chiesa at UFC 291 on July 29.

The quick turnaround shows two hungry fighters looking to progress up the UFC rankings, with victory crucial on Sunday.

A trio of Mexican fighters complete the UFC Fight Night: Grasso vs Shevchenko 2 Main Card with Raul Rosas Jr taking on Terrence Mitchell, Daniel Zellhuber facing Christos Giagos and Fernando Padilla meeting Kyle Nelson.

SC: UFC Fight Camp will set the stage for Sunday and will bring exclusive access, interviews and features, as well as in-depth analysis from ESPN’s UFC expert team on the ground in Las Vegas.
