This series shows the involvement of the Great Powers in the Arctic during the World War and highlights the importance of their arctic actions.
Following top-class international researchers’ fieldwork in the Arctic battlegrounds of WWII, in each episode, groundbreaking investigations offer new information about the Allies’ and German troops’ actions in the Arctic area as well as the Nordic nations’ involvement. The results offer entirely new perspectives on how the Arctic events shaped the world.
Episode One:
After World War I, Europe is in disarray. An alliance between Germany and the Soviet Union launches the Second World War. This also marks the beginning of an Arctic war, with Finland setting the stage for the first act.
