Swift Street on SBS on Canneseries pink carpet

Swift Street on SBS – Incredible new directorial talent Tig Terera was joined by cast members Cliff Curtis, Keiynan Lonsdale and Bernie Van Tiel from SBS’s upcoming crime-drama Swift Street on the Cannes International Television Series Festival (Canneseries) pink carpet in Cannes last night.

The series, which had its world premiere at Canneseries (5 -10 April), was selected as one of 10 series from across the globe to compete in the festival’s coveted Short Form Competition.

Premiering on SBS and SBS On Demand on Wednesday 24 April at 8.30pm, Swift Street is a fast, funny and big-hearted urban heist-escapade that reimagines the crime genre. It features the next generation of new Australian creative talent alongside established stars.

Rising star Tanzyn Crawford (Tiny Beautiful Things) and acclaimed Hollywood actor Cliff Curtis (Avatar: The Way of Water) lead the stellar cast as dysfunctional father-daughter duo Robert and Elsie.

They are joined by actor, musician and internet sensation Keiynan Lonsdale (Love, Simon), Eliza Matengu (Thor: Love and Thunder), triple-threat Bernie Van Tiel (SBS drama Erotic Stories and face of Beatbox Australia) and Alfred Chuol in his first television role.

Swift Street was created and directed by Tig Terera (Tinashé, Chenge), who is rapidly becoming one of Australia’s most exciting creative voices. Episodes 5-8 were directed by Nicholas Verso and the series was executive produced by Magpie Pictures’ Lois Randall. Filmed on location in Melbourne’s bustling inner-city cultural hub, Swift Street is a love letter to the Melbourne where Tig grew up.

Swift Street on SBS and SBS on Demand – from Wednesday 24 April, 2024, with double episodes premiering on SBS each Wednesday at 8.30pm. All 8 episodes will be available to stream on SBS on Demand.
