Paramount+ celebrates the launch of Dalliance in Sydney – Paramount+ has celebrated the launch of its Australian original drama Dalliance at Sails on Lavender Bay in Sydney.
The event brought together the show’s cast and creative team. Guests included AACTA Award winner Heather Mitchell, two-time Gold Logie winner Georgie Parker and creator-producer John Edwards.
For Australian streaming audiences, Dalliance adds another local scripted drama to Paramount+. The series also puts Sydney at the centre of the story, with the Harbour City described as almost a character in the show.
Dalliance Launch Event
The launch included a candid conversation hosted by 10 News Entertainment Editor Angela Bishop.
Bishop spoke with Mitchell, Parker and Edwards about the story. Dalliance follows a close-knit group of lifelong friends as they face old secrets, complicated relationships and second chances in their sixties.
Mitchell discussed the challenge of starring as Dani while also helping shape the series as a creator and producer.
Parker spoke about her character, Rose. She said it was important that Rose felt like a full woman, rather than simply a wife caught in the middle of the drama.
A Local Drama About Later-Life Relationships
Edwards reflected on his career telling Australian stories. He also spoke about why authentic local drama continues to resonate with global audiences.
He said humour was important in balancing the show’s heavier themes, including love, jealousy, betrayal and friendship.
The evening also welcomed cast members Russell Dykstra, Carolyne Bock, John Doyle, Katrina Foster and Ryan Panizzi.
Dalliance is created by John Edwards, Heather Mitchell, Pip Karmel and Liz Doran.
The series is produced by John Edwards, Heather Mitchell and Dan Edwards. It is executive produced by Paramount Australia’s Head of Scripted and Comedy Sophia Mogford and Pip Karmel.
Karmel also serves as story producer. The writing team includes Pip Karmel, Jock Serong, Christopher Lee and Liz Doran.
Matthew Saville and Emma Jackson direct the series. Dalliance is supported by Screen NSW’s Made in NSW TV Drama Fund.
Dalliance is now streaming exclusively on Paramount+ Australia.
