Gold Coast-shot Wonka’s The Golden Ticket Brings Gene Wilder’s Willy Wonka Voice to Netflix – Netflix has confirmed that Wonka’s The Golden Ticket will premiere globally in September, with the new unscripted competition series filmed on the Gold Coast.
The series celebrates Roald Dahl’s beloved book Charlie & the Chocolate Factory and the legacy of the 1971 classic Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory.
In a major nostalgic touch, Wonka’s The Golden Ticket will feature the recreated voice of Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka. Netflix has confirmed the voice was recreated with the consent of Wilder’s estate.
The series will also feature Rusty Goffe, who appeared in the original 1971 film, returning as an Oompa Loompa.
The new competition series will see twelve Golden Ticket winners enter Wonka’s Chocolate Factory. Each contestant will bring a partner of their choosing.
Once inside, they will face a series of games, tests and temptations. These challenges are designed to test them physically, mentally and morally.
Netflix describes the series as a high-stakes social experiment. Contestants will need to adapt, strategise and withstand the unknown as they move through the factory.
In the end, only one contestant will earn Wonka’s life-changing prize.

The series was produced in collaboration with the Roald Dahl Story Company and the Gene Wilder Estate. Netflix acquired the Roald Dahl Story Company in 2021.
The unscripted series is produced by Eureka Productions. Executive producers are Chris Culvenor, Paul Franklin, Rikkie Proost, David Tibballs, Alison Holloway and Emer Harkin.
The series consists of nine 50-minute episodes.
Production took place on the Gold Coast, Australia. It was supported by the Australian Government through its Location Offset, the Queensland Government through Screen Queensland’s Production Attraction Strategy, and the City of Gold Coast’s Screen Attraction Program.
Wonka’s The Golden Ticket premieres globally September 23, with a two-part finale on September 30, on Netflix
