Netflix leads at the 2025 AACTA Awards taking home 15 awards in total – Tonight, Netflix takes home major awards at the 2025 AACTA Awards at HOTA, Gold Coast as Boy Swallows Universe, Heartbreak High and Outerbanks claims an additional 8 awards bringing them to a total of 15 AACTA awards.
Boy Swallows Universe which swept the Logie Awards last year continued its success by winning an additional 6 awards at the 2025 AACTA Awards bringing them to a total of 12 AACTA Award wins following Wednesday nights AACTA Industry Awards Gala. The awards were Best Miniseries, Best Screenplay in Television for John Collee, and the suite of all four television acting honours, including Best Lead Actor in a Drama Presented by Binge for Felix Cameron, Best Lead Actress in a Drama Presented by Binge for Phoebe Tonkin, and supporting actor and actress wins for Lee Tiger Halley and Deborah Mailman respectively.
Sharing the accolades on the coast were Netflix’s Outerbanks, winning the Audience Choice Award for Favourite TV Show, and Heartbreak High Season 2 winning the award for Best Drama Series, with the popular Australian series wrapping its third and final season yesterday.
Netflix built on their success at Wednesday night’s AACTA Industry Gala Awards, which saw them take home seven awards including six for Boy Swallows Universe, (including Best Casting in Television and Best Cinematography in Television), and Best Soundtrack for Heartbreak High.
Netflix has received a total of 31 nominations for the 2025 AACTA Awards taking place Friday at HOTA, Gold Coast; including a record-breaking 22 for Boy Swallows Universe, the most ever earned by a single production.
Walking the red carpet on the night were Boy Swallows Universe stars Felix Cameron, Lee Tiger Halley, Zac Burgees, Phoebe Tonkin, Sophie Wilde, Bryan Brown alongside Trent Dalton, whose bestselling book the series is based on.
Joining them were Heartbreak High stars Asher Yasbinchek, Ayesha Madon, Chloé Hayden, James Majoos, Bryn Chapman Parish and Brodie Townsend, alongside Anna Torv (Territory) and the Netflix ANZ Director of Content, Que Minh Luu.
Rounding off a star-studded night were Apple Cider Vinegar stars Alycia Debnam-Carey and Aisha Dee who walked the carpet for the second time this week, following Monday’s Global Premiere of Netflix’s latest Australian Series. As the most nominated and awarded streamer at the 2025 AACTAs, the night was the perfect celebration of Netflix’s continued commitment to Australian films and series. Netflix’s upcoming Australian titles include The Survivors, Son of a Donkey,Heartbreak High Season 3 and Apex.
