Heartbreak High on Netflix Aussie rapper & singer Genesis Owusu to make cameo – As the final season of the globally iconic series Heartbreak High approaches, Netflix reveals the full, era-defining soundtrack. This season powerfully showcases homegrown Australian talent, maintaining the show’s globally recognised, energetic pulse.
Ghanaian-Australian musical visionary Genesis Owusu, whose tracks have featured prominently in previous seasons, will make a special guest appearance in Season 3, performing his acclaimed hits “Stampede” and “Get Inspired” as himself. This inclusion not only highlights the show’s commitment to collaborating with pivotal contemporary Australian artists but also celebrates Owusu’s unique contribution to the show’s musical identity.
The Heartbreak High soundtrack has always been central to its storytelling, seamlessly blending nostalgic Aussie classics with contemporary chart-toppers. For Season 3, the show continues this tradition, featuring everything from the irresistible groove of Silverchair to modern anthems from artists like Dom Dolla, Charli xcx and lead cast member Ayesha Madon.
Quote from Music Supervisors Jemma Burns and Charlie Lempiere:
“Music has always been central to the storytelling in Heartbreak High and for the final season the creative team went all in with their commitment to homegrown sounds while honouring the show’s global reach. From INXS and Kylie Minogue to Amyl and the Sniffers, every episode is stacked with local legends, rising names and sitting alongside international acts to capture the energy and nostalgia of Hartley High.”
Described by Burns and Lempiere as “a raucous blend of the zeitgeist,” this curated collection of songs has not only defined the energy of Hartley High but has actively boosted the profile of local Australian artists to a whole new international audience, making the series an essential platform for contemporary Aussie music.
Last week in Sydney “The Last Party” was held in celebration of the series finale and included a special nod to the sounds of the series with Aussie artists Cat & Calmell, Kobie Dee, Hellcat Speedracer and Ayesha Madon taking the stage for the final celebration. Heartbreak High Season 3 releases on Netflix March 25.
