Apple Cider Vinegar on Netflix debuts #5 globally – The limited Australian TV series Apple Cider Vinegar, produced by See-Saw Films and Picking Scabs’, has brought the true-ish story inspired by Australian wellness influencer Belle Gibson to the world. Since its release last Thursday, the series has gained 3.8 million views and was #5 in the global Top 10 English TV Show list and #1 in Australia’s Top 10. Â
The “terrific six-part series” (Sydney Morning Herald), starring Kaitlyn Dever as Belle Gibson who “absolutely nails the mix of drive, ruthlessness and sheer gall of the Aussie entrepreneur” (news.com.au) is “impossible to look away from” (Sunday Age), hitting the Weekly Top 10 in 31 countries including UK, Canada and New Zealand.
“We couldn’t be more delighted to see Apple Cider Vinegar embraced by such a large audience around the world and landing in the global Netflix Top 10 after just a few days. It’s a true testament to the incredible talent and dedication of Samantha Strauss, whose writing brought this story to life in such a compelling way, and to the entire creative team.”
– Liz Watts, See-Saw Head of Film and Television (AUS).
In addition to climbing the Netflix viewing charts, the fictional series has stirred online chatter both at home and abroad about the 2010s, how social media seeped its way into our lives and how the rise of the wellness influencer and #girlboss influenced so many.
Apple Cider Vinegar is the latest Australian series to feature in the Netflix Top 10, with Territory peaking at #2, Heartbreak High S2 peaking at #5, and Boy Swallows Universe peaking at #3 on the global Top 10 English TV list.
Other Australian productions recently featured in the Top 10 include hits Surviving Summer Seasons 1 & 2, Love is in the Air, Fisk, Run Rabbit Run, Wellmania, True Spirit, and The Stranger.
Apple Cider Vinegar launched last week with a global star-studded premiere in Sydney with the series’ leads Kaitlyn Dever, Alycia Debnam-Carey and Aisha Dee celebrating alongside supporting cast and series creatives. Alycia Debnam-Carey and Aisha Dee then walked their second red carpet that same week at the 2025 AACTA Awards on the Gold Coast to promote the new series.
