HBO Max releases trailer for The Big Bang Theory spin-off Stuart Fails to Save the Universe ahead of July premiere — HBO Max has unveiled the official trailer and key art for its highly anticipated comedy series Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, a new spin-off set in the world of The Big Bang Theory.
The 10-episode Max Original series will debut on Friday, 24 July, exclusively on HBO Max, with new episodes dropping weekly on subsequent Fridays.
Stuart Bloom takes centre stage
The new comedy shifts the focus to comic book store owner Stuart Bloom, played by Kevin Sussman, who finds himself responsible for saving reality after accidentally triggering a multiverse catastrophe.
The official synopsis reveals that Stuart breaks a device created by Sheldon Cooper and Leonard Hofstadter, unleashing a multiverse Armageddon that threatens existence itself.
Tasked with restoring reality, Stuart embarks on an unlikely adventure alongside his girlfriend Denise (Lauren Lapkus), geologist Bert Kibbler (Brian Posehn) and fan-favourite physicist Barry Kripke (John Ross Bowie).
Along the way, the group encounters alternate-universe versions of familiar characters from The Big Bang Theory. However, as the title suggests, things don’t exactly go according to plan.
Familiar faces return to the Big Bang universe
While the series centres on supporting characters from the original sitcom, Stuart Fails to Save the Universe promises plenty of connections to the beloved world created by Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady.

The Big Bang Theory remains one of television’s most successful sitcoms, spawning the prequel series Young Sheldon and its follow-up Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage.
Now, Stuart Fails to Save the Universe takes the franchise in a bold new direction, embracing science fiction and multiverse storytelling while putting some of the original series’ most beloved supporting characters firmly in the spotlight.
