House Of The Dragon Takes Over Sydney As HBO Max Celebrates Season Three Premiere – Sydney has answered the call of the dragon, with HBO Max transforming the historic Wynyard tunnels into an immersive world inspired by House of the Dragon to celebrate the return of the hit fantasy series.
Across 19 and 20 June, fans descended beneath the city into The Dragon’s Lair, a fully realised experience that brought the world of Westeros to life ahead of the Season 3 premiere, which launched today on HBO Max.
The journey began at Wynyard Park, where fans were greeted by the imposing skull of Balerion before venturing into the smoke-filled tunnels of the Red Keep. Dragonseeds navigated shadowy passageways inhabited by rat catchers before reaching the Dragon’s Lair Gate, where they came face-to-face with an ancient dragon before ultimately ascending to the Iron Throne.
The event also delivered a surprise for fans, with House of the Dragon star Steve Toussaint, who plays Lord Corlys Velaryon, making an unannounced appearance and experiencing The Dragon’s Lair for himself.

In addition to the Sydney activation, HBO Max is marking the return of the series with a special offer for new and returning subscribers, with discounts of 31 per cent on Standard and Premium monthly plans for six months for those who sign up before 16 July.
Fans can also bring a taste of Westeros into their own homes thanks to a partnership between HBO Max and HelloFresh, which has created eight limited-edition recipes inspired by House of the Dragon. The menu includes dishes such as Dracarys Herb and Fire Roasted Lamb Rump with Root Vegetables, Blackened Spinach and Red Wine Jus, along with Rhaenyra’s Poached Pears with Ember-Spiced Nuts and Syrup Drizzle.
Based on George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood, House of the Dragon continues to explore the rise and fall of House Targaryen, set nearly 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones.
House of the Dragon Season 3 premieres today, Monday, 22 June, exclusively on HBO Max.
