Josh Gates sends investigators Phil Torres and Heather Amaro back into the field for another run of unexplained cases. Their work takes them around the world as they examine reports of mysterious phenomena and search for evidence that can separate fact from folklore.

The series combines travel, local testimony and practical investigation. Torres brings his background as a biologist and adventurer, while Amaro approaches each case as a paranormal investigator. Gates guides the missions and helps frame the history, claims and possible explanations behind each location.

1000-lb Roomies Season 2

Monday, 14 December at 8:30pm on TLC – 11 one-hour episodes.

Jaz and Nesha return for a second season in which their long friendship faces fresh pressure. Both women are trying to make lasting changes, but their paths do not always move at the same speed.

Jaz is rebuilding her independence and opening herself to romance. Nesha, meanwhile, is launching an event-planning business and confronting difficult experiences from her past. The new episodes follow the practical and emotional work behind their goals, along with the effect that family, relationships and setbacks have on their progress.

That gives the season a wider focus than weight alone. It is also about two friends learning how to support one another while creating lives that are not defined by the same routines or expectations.

Summer of Secrets

Saturday, 5 December at 11:45am on Investigation Discovery – 16 one-hour and 17 two-hour instalments across the stunt.

Investigation Discovery is programming a five-hour episode stack every Saturday throughout summer. Summer of Secrets revisits cases involving some of the world’s most infamous serial killers, drawing on investigations, testimony and documentary accounts of the crimes.

The long-form weekend blocks are designed for viewers who prefer to follow a complete case or a connected group of episodes in one sitting. With both one-hour and two-hour programs included in the wider collection, the exact mix will vary across the summer schedule.

Shed & Buried: Classic Cars Season 4

Friday, 25 December at 9:30pm on Discovery Turbo – 10 one-hour episodes.

Henry Cole and Fuzz Townshend return to Britain’s sheds, barns and garages in search of overlooked vehicles with restoration potential. Their finds may have faded paint, seized parts or years of neglect behind them, but the pair look for the engineering and character that can make a classic worth saving.

Each project has to work as both a restoration and a business proposition. Cole and Townshend assess what they have found, decide how far the repairs should go and try to return the finished vehicle to the road before selling it. The result is part treasure hunt, part mechanical challenge and part lesson in motoring history.

Puppy Bowl Presents: The Summer Games

Saturday, 5 December at 7:30pm on Animal Planet – one-hour special.

Five amateur dog trainers and their canine partners compete for medals in a playful summer contest. The events cover tricks, freestyle routines and agility, putting both the dogs’ skills and the communication between each pair to the test.

The competition also carries a charitable reward. The successful team will earn a cash prize for an animal charity, giving the light entertainment special a practical link to animal welfare.
