A copycat killer threatens Rhiannon’s secret

Season 2 finds Rhiannon moving forward after the events of the first season. Her new promotion at the Carnsham Gazette appears to offer more control, and an irresistible rebound gives her another possible escape from the pressure surrounding her.

However, the emergence of a copycat killer puts that progress at risk. As the bodies mount, Rhiannon must consider whether her former partner AJ was right to question the person she has become.

Purnell, whose recent television work includes Fallout and Yellowjackets, reprises the role and is also one of the show’s executive producers. The new story continues the series’ blend of psychological tension, revenge fantasy and uncomfortable comedy.

New faces join the Sweetpea cast

Rish Shah joins the cast as Gabriel, Rhiannon’s new romantic interest. Tamsin Greig plays Liv, the mother of AJ, while Taj Atwal appears as Freya, Rhiannon’s formidable new boss at the newspaper.

Pointing returns after roles in Big Boys and Run Away. Swift is familiar to viewers from Ted Lasso and Downton Abbey, Harvey appeared in Foundation, and Oliver’s screen work includes Doctor Who and The Thursday Murder Club. Ganatra and Dowling complete the returning ensemble.

The creative team behind Season 2

Sweetpea is inspired by the Rhiannon Lewis character from CJ Skuse’s cult novels. See-Saw Films, the company behind Slow Horses and Heartstopper, produces the series in association with Sky Studios. The production company is part of the Mediawan group.

Zorana Piggott is series producer. Selina Lim is the lead writer, while Emme Hoy, Anna Jordan and Laura Jayne Tunbridge write individual episodes. Manpreet Dosanjh is the commissioning editor for Sky.
