Morning Wars to end with fifth and final season on Apple TV – Apple TV has confirmed that Morning Wars will culminate with a star-studded fifth and final season in 2027.
The acclaimed drama, led by Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon, was one of the flagship originals that helped launch Apple TV in 2019.
For Australian streaming audiences, the announcement gives one of Apple TV’s longest-running dramas a clear end point, with season four now available and the final chapter set to close the UBA newsroom story next year.
A final chapter
Aniston said the creative team was fortunate to craft the conclusion with intention, while Witherspoon described the series as a story about why the newsroom matters and the journalists who protect the fourth estate.
Apple executives Zack Van Amburg and Jamie Erlicht credited the series with helping define Apple TV’s early slate and praised the creative partnership behind the drama.
Executive producer Michael Ellenberg said the team cannot wait for fans to see the fifth and final season, while showrunner Charlotte Stoudt said the final run will explore where the characters ultimately choose to go.
Star-studded cast
Alongside Aniston and Witherspoon, the ensemble includes Billy Crudup, Mark Duplass, Nestor Carbonell, Karen Pittman, Nicole Beharie and Jon Hamm.
New additions for season five include Jeff Daniels, Renee Rapp, Jesse Williams, Sean Hayes, Lizzy Caplan and more.
Morning Wars is showrun and executive produced by Stoudt, directed and executive produced by Mimi Leder, and produced by Media Res, Echo Films and Hello Sunshine.
Season four now streaming
Season four is now streaming on Apple TV. It picks up after the UBA-NBN merger, with the newsroom facing hidden motives, corporate cover-ups, deepfakes and the question of who can be trusted.
The series has received multiple Emmy Award nominations across its run, with Crudup winning twice for his performance as Cory Ellison. Aniston also received an Actor Award for her performance as Alex Levy.
