Fleetwood Mac: The Chain documentary premieres on Apple TV on 29 January 2027 – For the first time ever, Fleetwood Mac is telling its story in its own words. Apple Original Films has unveiled the title and release date of its fully authorised documentary Fleetwood Mac: The Chain, which debuts on Apple TV on Friday, 29 January 2027.

The film is directed by five-time Academy Award nominee and Irving G. Thalberg winner Frank Marshall. It brings together the voices, memories and perspectives of Grammy Award-winning Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Christine McVie, Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks.

For Australian fans, the timing is significant: the premiere coincides with the 50th anniversary of the release of Rumours, the band’s Grammy-winning album. The documentary also joins a growing slate of music and film-history documentaries on Apple TV, following TV Central’s coverage of the Mr. Scorsese documentary series.

Why is it called The Chain?

The film’s title reflects the significance of Fleetwood Mac’s hit “The Chain”. According to Apple, the song embodies a family forged by a shared passion. Notably, it is the only song on Rumours credited to all five members.
