New this week on Apple TV: Las Azules returns for season two – Apple TV this week is led by the global premiere of Las Azules, also known as Women in Blue, as the Spanish-language crime drama returns for its second season.
The weekly lineup also includes the penultimate episode of Lucky, plus new episodes of Ted Lasso, Silo and Trying.
For Australian Apple TV viewers, the release gives the platform a busy mid-August slate. It mixes returning favourites with one major international drama premiere, while also setting up several new titles due later this month.
Las Azules returns
Las Azules season two follows Maria, now promoted to lieutenant, as she is pulled into a case that reaches back to the student massacre of 1968.
When the body of a student activist is discovered, the Azules are drawn into an investigation that exposes corruption, buried history and questions about the cost of fighting for justice.
The series stars Mori, Ximena Sarinana, Natalia Tellez, Amorita Rasgado, Miguel Rodarte, Leonardo Sbaraglia, Christian Tappan, Horacio Garcia Rojas and Bruno Bichir.
The first episode of Las Azules season two is now streaming on Apple TV. New episodes will stream each Wednesday through 30 September.
New episodes this week
Ted Lasso season four continues with its second episode, Curiouser and Curiouser. Ted returns to Richmond to meet the Lady Greyhounds, although not everyone is pleased to see him.
Lucky reaches its penultimate episode, Wherever You Go, There You Are. Lucky must face her past while planning for her future. The sixth episode is now streaming, with the finale due next Wednesday.
Silo season three continues today, Friday 14 August, with episode seven, Radio. Juliette sends Lukas and Kennedy on a mission, while Camille puts pressure on Robert to tell the truth.
Trying season five also continues this week. In episode six, Halloween, Nikki and Jason’s date night is derailed by suspicion, while Princess’ night spirals out of control.
Coming soon on Apple TV
Apple TV also has several upcoming titles on the way. The Dynasty: UConn Huskies premieres Friday 21 August, tracing the rise and ongoing dominance of the UConn women’s basketball program.
Stillwater season five also premieres Friday 21 August. The family series follows siblings Karl, Addy and Michael as their neighbour Stillwater helps them understand their feelings and daily challenges.
Dark Matter season two premieres Friday 28 August, with Joel Edgerton and Jennifer Connelly returning for the sci-fi drama based on Blake Crouch’s novel.
Further ahead, the Apple Original Film Mayday, starring Ryan Reynolds and Kenneth Branagh, premieres Friday 4 September. Australian thriller Last Seen, starring Patrick Brammall, premieres Wednesday 9 September.
