Olympic Games Paris 2024 on Stan – record numbers exceed expectations – As the Olympics close, the numbers are in – with both the athletes and Stan breaking records to make Paris 2024 a success beyond expectations.

Stan continued its winning run with the second week of competition drawing an unprecedented number of viewers to the platform.

During the Games, Stan obtained its highest viewing day ever since the launch of Stan Sport. This exceeded the previous pre-Olympics record by over 60%. The opening week of Paris 2024 competition also set a new viewing benchmark on Stan Sport, outperforming the previous record by over 300%.

Since reaching these milestones in the opening week, Stan Sport has continued to attract record numbers of viewers, with fans enjoying coverage of 329 events across the largest range of channels, including an Australian first international and multi-language offering.

Stan Chief Executive Officer Martin Kugeler said:

“Australia’s response to our groundbreaking Olympic viewing experience has exceeded all our expectations. With the most comprehensive offering in Australia’s Olympic history, we achieved a record breaking Stan Sport subscriber growth of over 50% – surpassing forecasts, making the Olympics a great success for Stan.

We set out to raise the bar for Olympics coverage in this country by introducing Australian firsts including 4K and exclusive international multi-language channels, and we are enormously proud to have delivered on this vision. Stan’s record breaking achievement is testament to the team’s tremendous dedication and passion to providing subscribers with a world class experience.”

Engaging diverse communities with an Australian first Olympics offering

Stan’s Australian-first international and multi-language offering was hugely popular throughout the Games with one in seven viewers enjoying the action across the eight exclusive channels on Stan Sport.

For the first time, tailored international coverage brought countless epic moments, uniting communities across Australia and enabling them to engage with the Olympic Games in new ways. Sky New Zealand’s channel, the UK channel via Eurosport and Viacom18’s Indian channel saw the greatest viewership throughout Paris 2024.

Delivering autonomy for audiences to consume Olympics content when and where they want

Australians consume sport in ways that compliment their busy lifestyles – on a range of devices and at varying times of the day and night. These viewing patterns came through strongly during the Olympics.

Subscribers took advantage of Stan Sport’s upgraded interface to overcome the challenges of international time zones, allowing easy navigation across thousands of hours of on demand content to catch-up on overnight activity. This proved a popular choice for 40% of Olympics viewing with Stan Sport viewers enjoying over 2,600 hours of replays, highlights and exclusive minis available for all 329 events.

Viewers at home were treated to a world class experience on the big screen with over 550 hours of 4K content including the biggest moments from Paris exclusively on Stan Sport, an Australian first for Olympics coverage.
