Diving
- Maddi Keeney has won Australia’s first Olympic medal in the Women’s 3m Springboard, taking Silver to add to her 3m Synchro Bronze in Rio alongside Anabelle Smith.
- 2023 World Champion Cassiel Rousseau (7th) and Olympic debutant Jaxon Bowshire (14th) have both qualified for the Men’s 10m Platform Semi-Final on Saturday.
Canoe Sprint
- Tom Green and Jean van der Westhuyzen have backed up their K2 1000 Gold in Tokyo with Bronze in the K2 500, edged out by Germany and Hungary.
- In the Women’s K2 500 Final, Aly Bull and Ella Beere finished in seventh.
Cycling Track
- Matthew Richardson won Silver in the Men’s Sprint after an impressive series of racing, but was outclassed by Dutchman Harrie Lavreysen 2-0 in the Gold Medal match race.
Basketball
- The Opals will play for Bronze at Paris 2024 after USA triumphed 84-65 in their Semi-Final.
Beach Volleyball
- Mariafe Artacho del Solar and Taliqua Clancy have just missed the medals after going down to Switzerland in the Bronze medal match.
INTERNATIONAL HIGHLIGHTS
Canoe Sprint
- Dame Lisa Carrington and Alicia Hoskin backed up their K4 500 win to claim another Gold in the K2 500 for New Zealand.
- Hungary took not only the Silver medal but their second crew also dead-heated for Bronze with Germany.
- Carrington now has seven Olympic Gold medals; Birgit Fischer (GER) is the most successful paddler in Olympic history with eight Gold and four Silver medals.
Football
- After France equalised in added-on time to send the Men’s Gold Medal Match to extra-time, Spain regained their composure to score twice in a 5-3 win and gain redemption from an extra-time loss in the Tokyo decider.
- Germany’s women claimed the Bronze medal with a 1-0 win over World Champions Spain courtesy of a 65th minute penalty shot.
Hockey
- China almost pulled off a stunning upset before Netherlands came back to win the Women’s Gold Medal Match.
- After being locked 2-all at full-time, Argentina defeated Belgium in a penalty shoot-out to claim the Bronze.
Athletics
- Belgium’s Nafissatou Thiam has created history in the Women’s Heptathlon, holding on to her points advantage in the 800m to win Gold ahead of Katarina Johnson-Thompson (GBR).
- Rai Benjamin (USA) has defeated World Record holder and defending Gold medallist Karsten Warholm (NOR) to win the Men’s 400m Hurdles.
- Canada have taken out the Men’s 4x100m Relay ahead of South Africa and Great Britain with USA disqualified for an illegal changeover.
- World Champion Marileidy Paulino upgraded her Tokyo Silver to Paris Gold in the Women’s 400m, setting an Olympic Record as she claimed Dominican Republic’s first Gold in Paris.
- Sha’Carri Richardson anchored USA to victory in the Women’s 4x100m Relay in a team which included 200m Gold medallist Gabby Thomas.
- World Record holder Beatrice Chebet won the Women’s 10,000m by just a tenth of a second from Nadia Battocletti. The Italian finally earned a medal in Paris after being elevated to Bronze in the 5000m via a disqualification before a successful protest relegated her off the podium.
- Jordan Alejandro Diaz Fortun won the Men’s Triple Jump by two centimetres with Portugal and Italy taking the minor medals.
Basketball
- USA have not missed the Women’s Basketball Gold medal since 1992 and they have the chance to win their eighth in a row after defeating Australia in the Semi-Final.
Golf
- New Zealand’s Lydia Ko moved into a share of the lead with Morgan Metraux (SUI) at nine-under with one round remaining.
Diving
- Five-time World Champion Chen Yiwen won the Women’s 3m Springboard with a near-flawless list of dives, scoring her second gold at Paris 2024 after also claiming Gold with Chang Yani in the 3m Synchro.
Water Polo
- Serbia has earned the opportunity to defend its Olympic Gold medal after defeating USA 10-6 in the Men’s Semi-Final.
- They will play Croatia who edged out Hungary 9-8 in a closely-fought encounter.
Breaking
- Ami (JPN) defeated Nicka (LTU) in the inaugural Olympic B-Girls Breaking Gold Medal Battle with China’s 671 taking Bronze.
