Nina Kennedy flew highest of all to claim Pole Vault Gold.
Athletics
  • World Champion Nina Kennedy survived a lengthy delay to fix faulty equipment to outlast USA’s Katie Moon to win the Women’s Pole Vault. It is Australia’s first-ever Gold in a Women’s field event at the Games.
    • Kennedy’s win took Australia to a record-making 18 Gold medals at Paris 2024 with four more days of competition still remaining.
  • Rhydian Cowley and Jemima Montag have won Bronze for Australia in the first-ever running of the Marathon Race Walk Mixed Relay. (Clip here)
  • Matt Denny broke through for his first Olympic medal with the popular thrower taking Bronze in the Men’s Discus. It is Australia’s first-ever medal in the event.
  • Mackenzie Little (second) and Kathryn Mitchell (third) have both into the Women’s Javelin Final after strong throws in qualification. For Mitchell, it is her fourth-straight Olympic Final at the age of 42.

Skateboarding

  • Keegan Palmer has defended his Men’s Park Gold Medal from Tokyo, setting down a 93.11 score in the first run of the final which could not be overhauled. It gives Australia a clean sweep of the Park events following Arisa Trew’s Gold yesterday. (Clip here)

Track Cycling

  • Australia won its first Men’s Team Pursuit Olympic title since 2004, defeating Great Britain by more than two seconds in the Gold Medal Race. (Clip here)
  • Matthew Richardson is in the mix for a medal in the Men’s Sprint having progressed through to the Quarter-Finals. Richardson set a World Record in qualifying before it was bettered by 0.003 Harrie Lavreysen (NED).
  • Kristina Clonan has qualified for the Women’s Keirin Quarter-Finals.
Sailing
  • Matt Wearn has defended his Olympic Gold medal after winning the Men’s Dinghy Medal Race, even though seventh would have been good enough to win the competition.

Diving

  • Maddison Keeney and Alysha Koloi are into Women’s 3m Springboard Final, with Keeney producing an eye-catching series of dives to place second in the Preliminaries.

Canoe Sprint

  • Alyce Wood (Women’s K1 500) and Tom Green (Men’s K1 1000) both performed strongly to move through to the Semi-Finals.

Basketball

  • The Opals continue to build with every match, scoring an 85-67 victory over Serbia to power into the Semi-Finals where they will

Water Polo

  • The Sharks have suffered a heart-breaking loss in the Men’s Quarter-Finals, going down to USA after the scores were locked 7-all at full-time.

Spain won the first ever Mixed Walk Relay ahead of Ecuador and Australia.
Athletics
  • Quincy Hall (USA) staged a stunning finish to win the Men’s 400m ahead of Matthew Hudson-Smith (GBR) and Muzala Samukonga (ZAM).
  • Spain won the first-ever staging of the Marathon Race Walk Mixed Relay ahead of Ecuador and Australia.
  • Jamaica’s Roje Stoner stunned the field to win the Men’s Discus ahead of World Record holder Mykolas Alekna (LTU) and Matt Denny (AUS).
  • Morocco’s El Bakkali has won back-to-back 3000m Steeplechase Gold medals after edging out Kenneth Rooks (USA) and Abraham Kibiwot.
  • Karsten Warholm (NOR) and Rai Benjamin (USA) are on track for a head-to-head battle for 400m Hurdles Gold after both moving through from the semis.

Golf

  • France’s Celine Boulter holds a three-shot lead after the opening round from South Africa’s Ashleigh Buhai. Minjee Lee had the best round of the Australians, six shots back.
Track Cycling
  • USA led from start to finish to win the Women’s Team Pursuit ahead of New Zealand with Great Britain taking out the Bronze Medal Race over Italy.

Basketball

  • Following Quarter-Final victories overnight, France will play Germany in one Semi-Final while the Opals await the winner of this morning’s clash between USA and Nigeria.

Water Polo

  • The Men’s Quarter-Finals have decided who will fight for the medals with Serbia set to face USA and Croatia to take Hungary.

Hockey

  • Netherlands will take on China in the Women’s Hockey Gold Medal Match following their Semi-Final victories. The Dutch were never headed in a 3-0 win over Argentina while China needed a shootout to get past Belgium.
