La Vuelta 2026 on SBS 2 airs Sunday 23 August at 12.05am on SBS 2 and streams on SBS On Demand. La Vuelta 2026 begins live on SBS 2 as the final Grand Tour of the year sets off from Monaco.

The race covers 21 stages and 3275 kilometres, taking the peloton through Mediterranean and mountainous landscapes from 23 August to 14 September.

SBS has long been a key free-to-air home for major cycling coverage in Australia, and La Vuelta gives cycling fans another Grand Tour to follow live after the Giro d’Italia and Tour de France.

Stage one begins with a 9 km individual time trial starting and finishing in Monaco, giving the riders an immediate race against the clock.

The Monaco start gives La Vuelta 2026 a sharp opening test. A short time trial can create early gaps before the mountains arrive, while also giving viewers a clean first look at the riders expected to shape the general classification.

What happens in La Vuelta 2026

Every stage is live on SBS 2 and SBS On Demand, with the opening stage setting the first time gaps before the race heads deeper into its three-week route.

The opening night is built around speed, timing and precision rather than a long road stage. It gives specialists a chance to claim the first leader’s jersey, while contenders try to avoid losing time before the harder stages begin.
