FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 on Optus Sport – It’s day 24 of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023™ in Australia and New Zealand and the football is coming thick and fast.

Both quarter-finals on Friday ended with a 2-1 scoreline, but how they got to that scoreline differed greatly across both matches with Spain and Sweden ultimately progressing.

Here’s everything you need to know ahead of the 24th day of action, as well as what you missed from the day before.

FROM MATCHDAY 23:

  • Spain 2-1 Netherlands
  • Sweden 2-1 Japan

What’s on today:

It’s quarter-finals time! We have two massive matches, both live on Optus Sport as four must become two by the end of the day.

Australia v France (5pm AEST)

The Matildas will look to progress to the Women’s World Cup semi-finals for the first time when they tackle France in Brisbane.

These two sides faced off just before the tournament kicked off with Australia claiming a tight 1-0 win.

But France have found form at the right time and will come into this quarter-final having scored 10 goals in their last two matches.

The Matildas, meanwhile, have picked up consecutive clean sheets while also scoring in every match at the tournament so far.

With a semi-final spot on the line, this match promises to be an epic.

England v Colombia (8.30pm AEST)

A super Saturday of Women’s World Cup action is rounded off with a tantalising match.

England scraped into the quarter-finals via a penalty shootout win over Nigeria, while Colombia continued their impressive run with a 1-0 win over Jamaica.

The Lionesses are reigning European champions but will be without young star Lauren James following her red card against Nigeria.

Colombia have been turning heads on and off the pitch with their incredible off-field support once again to be on full display at a sold-out Stadium Australia.

Players to watch:

Kadidiatou Diani (France)

A genuine Golden Boot contender with four goals from four matches, Diani looms as one of the tournament’s most dangerous attackers.

She is incredibly hard to handle in the final third and versatile enough to finish off chances or create them for others.

Diani’s four goals at the tournament have come from the last two matches as she finds form at the right time.

Linda Caicedo (Colombia)

The 18-year-old has defied her young age at the Women’s World Cup to star for her nation.

Caicedo has two goals to her name so far and is the wildcard Colombia need to step up again if they are to find a way to beat England.

Where to watch:

Like every game of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023™, Australia v France and England v Colombia will all be shown live and on demand on Optus Sport.

Live coverage begins from 4pm (AEST) on Optus Sport with Australia v France on Optus Sport 1, before England v Colombia takes centre stage.
