Women’s Finals and the men’s season opener live and free
Following an epic Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) home and away season, it all comes down to this, when the Finals kick off from 7.30pm AEDT tomorrow night live and free on 7mate and 7plus Sport.
Cricket’s #1 commentary team heads to Perth tomorrow night to host a blockbuster Knockout clash between the Perth Scorchers and Melbourne Stars, before Thursday night’s Challenger featuring tonight’s winner and the Sydney Sixers at North Sydney Oval.
The winner will then head into Saturday night’s WBBL Final at Ninja Stadium, where the Hobart Hurricanes await with the ultimate prize on the line, as the competition’s best go head-to-head for the WBBL|11 crown, all live and free on Seven and 7plus Sport.
Seven’s WBBL commentary team will be led by host Emma Freedman, experts Lisa Sthalekar and Katey Martin and callers Alister Nicholson and Andy Maher.
Following the epic WBBL season decider, on the eve of its 15th season Seven’s Big Bash League (BBL) commentary team is primed to bring fans an epic six-week long tournament of the world’s most exciting cricket competition.
BBL|15 will start with a bang on Sunday, 14 December, with three prime-time nights leading into the third The Ashes Test match at Adelaide Oval, which starts from Wednesday 17 December.
With 34 prime-time nights of BBL action on 12 days of the season, live and free BBL matches will follow stumps in Australia’s Test series, including two mega days featuring back-to-back BBL clashes on top of a full day’s play on Day One of the Boxing Day and Sydney Tests on Seven and 7plus Sport.
The home and away fixture concludes on Sunday, 18 January, with a huge match at the Gabba between the Brisbane Heat and Sydney Sixers.
The four-match finals series begins on Tuesday, 20 January, with the all-important Final scheduled for Sunday, 25 January.
A procession of former on-field stars will also return to Seven’s BBL coverage as expert commentators, including Ricky Ponting, Aaron Finch, Greg Blewett, Will Pucovski, Elyse Villani, Trent Copeland, Lisa Sthalekar, Callum Ferguson, Damien Fleming, Brad Hodge and Simon Katich.
Leading Seven sport presenters James Brayshaw, Mel McLaughlin, Emma Freedman, Jason Richardson, Andy Maher and Alister Nicholson will also return to the coverage.
Current stars Alex Carey, Chris Green, Glenn Maxwell, Sam Billings and Tim David will feature regularly on Seven’s live and free BBL coverage, while 7NEWS sport reporters Theo Doropoulos and Xander McGuire will also be boundary-side throughout the season.
Seven cricket commentator Aaron Finch said:
“No summer is complete without the Big Bash and this year’s competition is set to deliver unreal moments, with the game’s biggest stars live and free on Seven and 7plus Sport.
“I can’t wait to see what stories emerge from BBL|15. Last season saw Mitchell Owen cement himself as a household name after what was an historic innings for him and the Hobart Hurricanes winning their first title in front of a sold-out crowd.
“The best thing about BBL is the unpredictability of the season and this year will be no different,”
– he said.
“With a host of international names paired with our homegrown stars in Alex Carey, Travis Head, Steve Smith, Sam Konstas and many more who will be available following the Sydney Test, we’re in for an unreal summer. It’s impossible to predict who will come out on top 25 January. Only time will tell, and until then we will have all the biggest and best moments.”
Throughout BBL cricket fans will once again be treated to Seven’s The Spin, hosted by Jason Richardson alongside a rotating group of Seven’s cricket talent including Lisa Sthalekar, Brad Hodge, Will Pucovski, Aaron Finch and some very special guests, weekly on Seven, 7mate and 7plus Sport.
In a fun twist for cricket fans, the 7AFL Kids Call will receive a cricket makeover. Three junior commentators will get behind the Seven microphone for the inaugural 7Cricket Kids Call, broadcast live, free and exclusively on 7plus Sport during BBL 15.
