Big Bash on Channel 7 sets finals fixture – Finals fever hits the Big Bash. Every Finals match, live and free on Seven and 7plus Sport.
Following a Big Bash League (BBL) season for the ages, fans are set for even more big hitting and nail-biting finishes on the Seven Network over the next week, as the Perth Scorchers, Sydney Sixers, Melbourne Stars and Hobart Hurricanes compete in this year’s BBL Finals, all live and free on Seven and 7plus Sport.
Kicking off with tonight’s Qualifier between the Perth Scorchers and Sydney Sixers, live and free from 7.00pm AEDT on Seven, 7mate and 7plus Sport, the winner of the clash will progress straight to the Final on Sunday, 25 January, booking themselves a home Final and securing the box seat to win the BBL|15 title.
The Sixers have been in red hot form following the return of Ashes heroes Steve Smith and Mitchell Starc, while the Scorchers have been the most consistent team of BBL|15 thanks to big performances from Mitch Marsh, Ashton Turner and Jhye Richardson.
Then, it’s a must-watch on Wednesday night when Seven heads to Hobart as the reigning champions, the Hobart Hurricanes, host the Melbourne Stars in a do-or-die Knockout clash, with the winner progressing to Friday night’s Challenger.
The only team in BBL history to not win a title, the Stars will have to dethrone the reigning champs to achieve the ultimate success in BBL|15. The Stars feature T20 great Glenn Maxwell and fan favourite Peter Siddle, while the Hurricanes will be looking to defend their crown through star players in Beau Webster, Nathan Ellis and Mitchell Owen.
Cricket’s #1 commentary team will call every ball of the Finals series from venues across Australia, led by iconic caller and Australian cricketing legend Ricky Ponting.
Ponting will be joined by Seven’s commentary and hosting team throughout the Finals including one of the competition’s greatest ever batsmen, Aaron Finch, Brad Hodge, Emma Freedman, James Brayshaw, Jason Richardson, Alister Nicholson, Damien Fleming and Callum Ferguson.
Matches in the Finals series will be held at the home venues of the teams that have earned the right to host by finishing first and second on the ladder. Those teams are the Perth Scorchers (Perth Stadium) and Sydney Sixers (SCG).
Seven’s BBL coverage will feature a Friday night special of The Spin, the final episode of the summer following the Challenger on Friday, 23 January, hosted by Aaron Finch and Brad Hodge. This episode is set to be a must watch, previewing a huge BBL|15 Final and recapping an action-packed summer of cricket on Seven.
Seven’s summer of cricket continues into February with a Women’s multi-format International Series against India commencing on Sunday, 15 February, live and free on Seven, 7mate and 7plus Sport.
