AFLW on Seven – AFLW returns to Your Home of Footy. Premiership captain Daisy Pearce bolsters Seven’s AFLW coverage.

On the eve of the new season, the Seven Network’s AFL Women’s commentary team is locked and loaded, ready to bring fans an epic season eight of the AFLW competition. With fresh and familiar faces delivering all the action live, free and in HD*, there’s nowhere footy fans would rather be than on Seven and 7plus, Your Home of Footy.

In a massive bonus for fans, premiership hero and 7AFL expert commentator Daisy Pearce will join Seven’s AFLW team for the 2023 season, following her retirement from the game earlier this year.

Fresh off the back of her decorated career with Melbourne, Pearce will join Seven’s commentary team for the opening clash between reigning premiers Melbourne and Collingwood, where she will join her former teammates one last time to unfurl the 2022 premiership flag, under lights at Ikon Park from 7.00pm AEST live on Channel 7, 7mate and 7plus.

In addition to the team’s new recruit, Seven also welcomes back a star-studded line up of the game’s best callers and experts in 2023, including Jason Bennett, Nigel Carmody, Natalie Edwards, Melissa Hickey, Abbey Holmes, Sam Lane, Kate McCarthy, Alister Nicholson, Sarah Olle and Jo Wotton.

Alongside the talented crop of former players, Seven’s team will also include current Melbourne defender Libby Birch, while 7NEWS’ Anna Hay, Mark Soderstrom and Laura Spurway round out the team.

Ahead of the opening match, fans can tune in to Seven on Thursday night from 8.30pm AEST when Andy Maher, Mick Molly and Sam Pang return for everyone’s favourite sports show, The Front Bar.

The hosts will be joined by Daisy Pearce and legendary ruckman Nic Naitanui, following the announcement of his retirement after 213 games across 15 seasons with the West Coast Eagles.

The following matches will round out Seven’s AFLW Round One coverage:

  • Carlton v Gold Coast SUNS, Saturday 1.00pm AEST (QLD only)
  • Adelaide Crows v Port Adelaide, Saturday 2.30pm ACST (SA only)
  • Hawthorn v Essendon, Saturday 7.00pm AEST
  • North Melbourne Tasmanian Kangaroos v St Kilda, Sunday 1.00pm AEST
  • Sydney Swans v GWS GIANTS, Sunday 3.00pm AEST (NSW only)
  • Brisbane Lions v Richmond, Sunday 3.00pm AEST
  • Fremantle v West Coast Eagles, Sunday 3.00pm AWST (WA only)

Throughout the AFLW season, fans can stream Seven’s weekly AFLW matches live and on demand on 7plus.

Fans in NSW, Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia can also watch every game involving teams from their home states live and free on Seven and 7plus across every round of the season.

Abbey Holmes said the 2023 AFLW season is set to thrill, with the best of the competition’s upcoming talent and giants of the league, ready for their biggest season yet.

“We’ve reached an exciting time in the AFLW competition. With every team represented for a second year running, and a new breed of rising stars emerging as the competition’s most dominant players, there’s never been a better time to tune into AFLW,” Holmes said.

“Will Melbourne achieve the ultimate success again, with Kate Hore at the helm? Can the Brisbane Lions continue their fight for a second Premiership after coming eerily close so many times? Is Monique Conti the secret to Richmond’s success in their fifth season? The possibilities are endless in 2023. There’s so much excitement to come.

“They’re ready, we’re ready. We’ve arrived at the best season yet.”
