An incredible 2025 AFL season is set for a nail-biting finish this Saturday, when the Geelong Cats meet the Brisbane Lions on the hallowed turf of the MCG for the 2025 Toyota AFL Grand Final, live, free and exclusively on Seven and 7plus Sport.

On the biggest day on the Australian sport calendar, the Seven Network will have every angle of the premiership decider covered, from early morning into the night for footy fans in every corner of the country.

In a coup for Australian football fans, the incomparable Bruce McAvaney will return to host Seven’s AFL Grand Final coverage alongside Seven’s star-studded commentary team.

Western Bulldogs captain Marcus Bontempelli will join Seven’s Grand Final coverage as part of the Grand Final Countdown, hosted by 7NEWS Melbourne’s Rebecca Maddern, alongside Hawthorn great, co-host of Seven’s House of Wellness and 7Horse Racing Reporter, Shane Crawford.

Additionally, football’s #1 commentary team will be led by an exceptional Grand Final line-up on Saturday, featuring James Brayshaw, Campbell Brown, Kane Cornes, Luke Hodge, Abbey Holmes, Cameron Ling, Hamish McLachlan, Rebecca Maddern, Kate McCarthy, Nick Riewoldt, Jason Richardson, Matthew Richardson, Joel Selwood, Brian Taylor and Dale Thomas.

7NEWS football reporters Mitch Cleary, Theo Doropoulos, Kate Massey and Xander McGuire will present all the breaking news throughout the day, while Sunrise reporter Katie Brown will deliver all the colour from around the MCG.

Viewers will enjoy more than 12 hours of coverage on Seven, 7mate and 7plus Sport across Saturday, kicking off at 7.00am AEST with the Weekend Sunrise AFL Grand Final Day Special and continuing non-stop until the Grand Final post-match presentations and celebrations wind up after 7.00pm AEST.

From 9.00am AEST, viewers can also tune into the 59th annual North Melbourne Breakfast, exclusive to 7plus Sport.

Featuring an all-star line-up, key guest Gary Ablett Jr. will take to the stage for an in-depth look back at his career and famous Grand Final moments.

Panellists Brendan Fevola, Billy Brownless and Heath Shaw will reminisce about some of their best career highlights, while Jobe Watson, Jude Bolton and Emma Kearney will be on hand to preview the biggest game of the year.

Before the first bounce, Seven will take fans live to one of the most highly anticipated AFL Telstra Pre-Game Entertainment shows in history, headlined by iconic American rapper Snoop Dogg.

Snoop Dogg will also join Matthew Richardson on Seven’s coverage before he takes to the stage on Saturday, to sit down and give the inside scoop on the preparations for the epic performance.

One of the highlights of Grand Final Day, the Telstra Half-Time Sprint, will receive a star-studded boost this year, with Seven’s own Bruce McAvaney set to call the race, while teen sprint sensation Gout Gout fires the gun as the race starter for the Grand Final Day mainstay.

Lining up alongside a list of current AFL stars will be Olympic boxer and former Dancing With The Stars contestant Harry Garside, as he takes on the 100-metre challenge.

7NEWS.com.au is the place to be for all AFL news in the lead up to, and during, Seven’s Grand Final Day coverage, with a live rolling blog covering all the action on Saturday as well as the 7NEWS.com.au AFL Match Centre.

Seven’s Head of AFL and Sport Innovation, Gary O’Keeffe, said:

“For the first time in history, Geelong and Brisbane will go head-to-head on the biggest stage in an AFL Grand Final.

“These two powerhouse clubs have never met in the decider, and the stakes couldn’t be higher. The winning side will etch their name in history as the first team to claim five premierships in the 2000s, and we cannot wait to see Chris Fagan and Chris Scott’s sides battle it out for premiership glory.

“This year, fans can expect the most advanced coverage ever delivered on Seven and 7plus Sport,” he said.

“From our state-of-the-art production to world-class commentary and analysis, we’re raising the bar again. We will have two ultra-high-tech 4K pan-and-zoom cameras. These cutting-edge cameras allow us to digitally zoom in on critical moments, from fingertip touches to potential injuries, ensuring fans don’t miss a thing. There are only four of these cameras in the entire country – and Seven has secured two of them for next Saturday’s decider.

“Once again, Seven’s broadcast will be seen across the screens of footy fans in 139 countries, taking our great game to the global stage. Viewers will also hear from a global sporting icon for his take on Australian football and it’s standing in global sport.

“The 2025 AFL Grand Final is set to be the biggest and best broadcast of the year. Do not miss a second, live and free on Seven and 7plus – Your Home of Footy.”

Seven’s Director of Sport, Chris Jones, said:

“As ratings soar across the country, we cannot wait to deliver the biggest day on the Australian sport calendar, the 2025 Toyota AFL Grand Final, live, free and exclusively on Seven and 7plus Sport.

“The Finals have already delivered record-breaking audiences across Seven and 7plus Sport, and our entire team is primed and ready to give Australians a world class quality broadcast from 9.00am into the night on Saturday, from football’s spiritual home, the MCG.

“With the biggest AFL viewing numbers ever seen on 7plus Sport for Saturday’s Preliminary Final and more than 15.8 million Australians turning to Seven and 7plus Sport for their finals footy, all eyes now turn to the decider between two powerhouse clubs in Geelong and Brisbane. Don’t miss a moment right here on Seven and 7plus Sport,”

– he said.

Seven’s Grand Final week also includes Round Seven of the AFLW Competition Thursday night, when the Geelong Cats host Hawthorn at GMHBA Stadium, from 7.00pm AEST on 7mate and 7plus Sport.

Then, Mick Molloy, Sam Pang and Andy Maher will be front and centre at The Front Bar for the annual Grand Final Special at 8.30pm nationally on Seven and 7plus.

Mick, Sam and Andy will be at the bar to round out the AFL season, alongside an epic host of footy stars including AFL CEO Andrew Dillon, departing Port Adelaide coach Ken Hinkley, Ryan “Fitzy” Fitzgerald and retiring West Coast player, Jeremy McGovern.

Then, after The Front Bar fans can tune into the final episode of Unfiltered for the year, featuring four-time premiership player and three-time premiership captain, 7AFL Expert Commentator, Luke Hodge, as he speaks about his own Grand Final experiences and tells never before heard stories from his storied football career.

On Friday morning, join Nat Barr, David Woiwod, Monique Wright, Mark Beretta, Sam Mac and Katie Brown live from 5.30am AEST at Federation Square in Melbourne for a special AFL Grand Final extended edition of Australia’s #1 breakfast show, Sunrise.

Ahead of the monumental clash, fans can catch a glimpse of the 2025 AFL Premiership Cup and watch live performances from Guy Sebastian, while the best-dressed fans can enter to win tickets to the 2025 AFL Grand Final.

On Grand Final day, viewers can start their morning with Weekend Sunrise’s AFL Grand Final Day Special hosted by Monique and David, with live crosses to Beretts and Katie at the ‘G and featuring appearances from iconic football stars of today and yesteryear.
