Michael Voss Joins Fox Footy’s Thursday Night Footy Team – Three-time premiership player, Brownlow Medallist and one of the AFL’s most respected figures, Michael Voss is returning to the game in a new role, joining Fox Footy’s Thursday Night Footy team from Round 16.
After a month away from the weekly demands of AFL coaching, Voss will step behind the microphone and bring his modern football knowledge, coaching expertise and unique perspective to viewers across the country.
The former Brisbane Lions champion will join Sarah Jones, Jason Dunstall, Leigh Montagna, David King, Mark Howard, Matt Hill and Dwayne Russell as part of Fox Footy’s Thursday Night Footy coverage.
Voss enjoyed one of the most decorated playing careers in AFL history, winning three premierships, a Brownlow Medal and five All-Australian selections, while captaining the Brisbane Lions during their dynasty era. His recent coaching experience is also expected to provide viewers with a rare insight into the modern game.

Speaking about the new role, Voss said he was looking forward to joining a team he has worked closely with throughout his football journey.
“I’ve worked closely with many of the Fox Footy team over the journey. It’s always been a professional and insightful approach and gives something unique to people watching the game,” Voss said.
“The conversation is already so strong with the talent that is there, so I hope to complement the team where needed.”
“I don’t think I have anyone traded in the first few weeks, but people will get my honesty with hopefully some perspective and insight.”
Fox Sports Managing Director Steve Crawley welcomed Voss back to the broadcaster, describing him as a natural fit for the network.
“We are delighted to welcome back Michael Voss who has long felt a part of the Fox Footy family,” Crawley said.
“He is a brilliant expert commentator and people we trust like Jonathan Brown have given us an insight to Vossy’s champion qualities, saying he was the best of his era. So good to have him back on the panels and in the commentary box.”
Voss will make his Fox Footy debut when coverage of Round 16 begins at 6.30pm on Thursday, 25 June, with the Brisbane Lions taking on the Sydney Swans live from the Gabba.
Fox Footy remains the only place to watch every game of every AFL round live with no ad breaks during play, available on Kayo Sports.
