Mega week ahead for sport fans on Channel 7 – Cricket, racing, AFL and Big Freeze 9 lead action-packed schedule on Seven.

Winter sports action is about to heat up in a mega week of cricket, racing and AFL blockbusters, live, free and exclusive across the screens of Seven.

Headlining a sensational slate of sport coverage, the Australian cricket team take on India at The Oval in London in the final of the ICC World Test Championships from 7.00pm tomorrow, only on Channel 7 and 7plus.

Cricketing great and former Australian team coach, Justin Langer, will join James Brayshaw and Ricky Ponting at the helm of Seven’s coverage, analysing the five days of play to decide which nation rules the world of cricket.

Seven’s coverage will include a 30-minute pre-game show each night, from 7.00pm AEST on 7mate and 7plus, where viewers will be greeted by many of Seven cricket’s favourite faces, including Matthew Hayden and Alison Mitchell; as well as Indian greats Sunil Gavaskar and Ravi Shastri. ICC TV will produce match coverage.

As the Aussies take a bat to the Indians, Thursday Night Footy also returns for Round 13 of the AFL season, kicking off with a huge clash between the Sydney Swans and St Kilda.

In celebration of Lance “Buddy” Franklin’s 350th AFL game, GWS Giants defender Phil Davis returns to the Seven’s commentary box to give viewers key insights into Buddy’s game, after playing on him multiple times throughout his own incredible career.

The blockbuster game will be followed by The Front Bar, when Mick Molloy, Sam Pang and Andy Maher will be joined by West Coast Eagles legend Karl Langdon and Big Freeze 9’s Bec Daniher.

On Friday morning, viewers will get their first taste of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023™ coming to Seven from 20 July, when The Trophy Tour swings by Sunrise (6am to 9am).

On Friday night, another cross-border AFL battle begins, when the Western Bulldogs take on Port Adelaide from 7.00pm AEST on Seven.

Then, from 12.00pm Saturday on Channel 7 (Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane) and 7two (Adelaide 11.30am and Perth 10am), Bruce McAvaney will lead Seven’s exclusive coverage of the Brisbane Racing Club’s Stradbroke Day at Eagle Farm (with crosses all day to meetings at Royal Randwick and Sandown).

On Saturday Night Footy, Seven’s commentary team travels to Perth when Fremantle take on Richmond at Optus Stadium, live and free on Channel 7 and 7mate from 6.30pm AEDT.

Then on Sunday night, AFL fans can strap in for one of football’s greatest rivalries, when Carlton meet Essendon at the MCG for the King’s Birthday Eve clash, live from 7.00pm AESTon Channel 7 and 7mate.

Next Monday marks a special day on the AFL calendar, when the game and its fans unite for Big Freeze 9, in support of Fight MND, with nine of Australia’s biggest names set to take the plunge for the Big Freeze on Seven.

For the past eight seasons, the Big Freeze has been a crowd-favourite before the Collingwood-Melbourne 3.00pm AEST blockbuster, with FightMND and AFL icon Neale Daniher sending a who’s who of the football, sport and media worlds down the slide into Australia’s most infamous ice bath.

Live from 2.00pm AEST on Channel 7, 7mate and 7plus, fans can watch as the celebrity sliders – including Aussie acting royalty Eric Bana, surfing great Mick Fanning, AFLW pioneer Tayla Harris and Seven’s own Abbey Gelmi – dress up and show up for this important cause.

Rounding out this week’s AFL matches on Seven are:

  • Hawthorn v Brisbane at the MCG, Saturday 1.30pm AEST on Channel 7 (Brisbane only)
  • Adelaide Crows v West Coast Eagles at Adelaide Oval, Saturday 4.00pm ACST on Channel 7 (Adelaide, Perth only)
  • North Melbourne v GWS Giants at Blundstone Stadium, Sunday 3.00pm AEST on 7mate (Sydney only)

Fans in NSW, Queensland, South Australia, and Western Australia can also watch Round 13 matches involving teams from their home states live and free on Channel 7.

Throw in new 7plus pop-up channels featuring the World Surf League and ONE Fight Night and it’s a sporting smorgasbord to sate any appetite.

There’s no better place to be than Seven, Your Home of Sport.
