Gather Round comes alive this week on Seven and 7plus Sport – Includes 10 hours of Sunday footy, all live and free on Seven and 7plus Sport
The highly anticipated AFL Gather Round is set to return for 2026, with the Seven Network ready to bring fans all the action from South Australia this week, live and free on Seven, 7mate and 7plus Sport.
Including 10 hours of footy coverage on a jam-packed Sunday across the network, South Australia will be gripped by footy fever once again, with all matches of Round 5 being played across the state for a fourth consecutive year.
The festival of footy kicks off with Thursday Night Footy from Adelaide Oval, as the hometown Adelaide Crows take on Carlton in a blockbuster clash under lights.
Both teams have had rocky starts to the 2026 AFL Premiership Season and will be looking to get much-needed wins on the board, with the Crows winning their past four matches against the Blues and going in as heavy favourites.
Seven’s Thursday night team will be on the ground at Adelaide Oval from 7.00pm AEST live and free on Seven, 7mate and 7plus Sport, featuring Hamish McLachlan, Bec Maddern and
Brian Taylor, experts Luke Hodge, Kane Cornes and Nick Riewoldt and 7NEWS reporter Mitch Cleary.
Prime time football continues the following night as two interstate heavyweights in Collingwood and Fremantle battle it out at Adelaide Oval.
As the two teams face off against each other at a neutral venue for the first time in what is a unique quirk of Gather Round, Seven’s Friday Night Footy team will once again be at Adelaide Oval from 7.00pm AEST live and free on Seven, 7mate and 7plus Sport, with James Brayshaw, Abbey Holmes and Alister Nicholson leading the call, joined by Matthew Richardson, Dale Thomas and 7NEWS reporter Xander McGuire.
Then, all eyes are on Seven’s Sunday football extravaganza, with 10 hours of AFL coverage for fans to get their footy fix.
It all starts with Sunday Footy Feast, which, for the first time, will broadcast from the Barossa Valley in South Australia, live and free from 12pm AEST on Seven, 7mate and 7plus Sport.
Kate McCarthy, Campbell Brown and Kate Massey will tackle the game’s biggest topics and welcome big South Australian footy names, with a light-hearted look at the round just gone and Sunday footy to come in this special edition of the program.
Sunday Footy Feast is the perfect lead in for Sunday Afternoon Footy, which continues from the Barossa Valley, as the GWS Giants host Richmond from 2.30pm AEST live on Seven, 7mate and 7plus Sport.
The Giants have had a disappointing start to the season as they battle with injuries to a number of star players, while the up-and-coming young Tigers brigade will be hoping to get their first win on the board in season 2026.
Gather Round on Seven concludes with Port Adelaide facing off against St Kilda. Power fans are hoping they can replicate last year’s magic where they kicked 12 of the first 15 goals against Hawthorn in the same fixture and caused one of the biggest upsets of the season.
Seven’s coverage of the final match of the round will kick off following 7NEWS from 7.00pm AEST on Seven, 7mate and 7plus Sport, wrapping up the monster round of football in South Australia.
Seven expert commentator and The Agenda Setters host, Kane Cornes, said:
“Gather Round has become one of the marquee fixtures on the AFL calendar. I can’t wait to see footy light up South Australia once again this year and welcome thousands of fans from across the country come support their teams.
“There are a couple of cracker games for fans to watch on Seven, including both South Australian teams across the Thursday and Sunday night fixtures. I’m looking forward to watching the Collingwood and Fremantle match on Friday. Given neither team has the home ground advantage, it will be a good test for both teams and is one of the quirks of Gather Round which is so entertaining.”
Footy fans can also expect a host of ancillary programming as part of Gather Round, with fan favourite The Front Bar to once again broadcast their show from Adelaide Oval on Wednesday, 8 April.
The show will feature big name guests in Josh Carr, Stephen Kernahan, Stuart Dew and others, live and free from 8.30pm nationally on Seven and 7plus Sport. The Agenda Setters will be on
7mate from 7.30pm on Wednesday, while Unfiltered will be on Wednesday following The Front Bar at 9.30pm on Seven and 7plus Sport, featuring a special second part episode with Alastair Clarkson following part one airing last week.
