Dustin Martin to return for 2026 Legends Game on Channel 7 — AFL great Dustin Martin is set to make his long-awaited return to the football field, with the Richmond champion unveiled as the first marquee recruit for the 2026 Four’N Twenty Legends Game for Prostate Cancer.
The three-time Norm Smith Medallist will pull on the famous Big V when Victoria takes on the All Stars on Thursday, 27 August, with the annual charity match broadcast live and free on Seven and 7plus Sport.
Martin’s appearance will mark the first time he has played in front of a packed stadium since retiring from the AFL in 2024. Widely regarded as one of the modern game’s greatest players, Martin’s decorated career included three AFL premierships, a Brownlow Medal, three Norm Smith Medals and four All-Australian selections.
AFL legends line up for charity clash
The All Stars have secured the return of Cyril Rioli, who earned Player of the Match honours in 2025 following a standout performance that included a spectacular torpedo goal.
Seven AFL expert Kane Cornes will coach the All Stars, while Geelong premiership captain Joel Selwood will take charge of Victoria. Former Carlton forward Brendan Fevola has been named Victorian captain, with Shane Crawford leading the All Stars.
Seven Network Head of AFL and Sport Innovation Gary O’Keeffe said Martin’s inclusion elevated the profile of the event.
“Few players in modern football have made an impact like Dustin Martin and his inclusion in the 2026 Legends Game speaks volumes about the calibre of this match.
“A player who defined big moments on the biggest stage, fans will now get one more chance to witness the magic, while helping raise vital funds for prostate cancer research that impacts so many Australians.”
O’Keeffe also welcomed Rioli’s return to the field.
“Cyril has an ability to light up a contest with a single moment of brilliance, and that’s exactly why he remains such a beloved figure of the game.”
Continuing EJ Whitten’s legacy
The Four’N Twenty Legends Game for Prostate Cancer will once again honour the legacy of E.J. Whitten Sr, whose advocacy helped raise awareness of prostate cancer across Australia. The 2025 edition reached 2.3 million Australians on Seven and 7plus Sport and raised more than $1 million for the Australian Prostate Centre.
