7AFL Kids Call returns for Round 22 on 7plus Sport – Kids calling for kids for Hawthorn v Collingwood clash, live and free on 7plus Sport.
Led by Alex Kouts (12), Ned Bolton (14) and Indie Axup (16), the loveable young footy fans will once again present their own pre-game and post-match coverage, as well as full match commentary for the Hawthorn and Collingwood clash at MCG from 7.15pm AEST on Thursday, 7 August.
Alex, Ned and Indie will be guided by 7AFL caller Alister Nicholson and expert Joel Selwood to give valuable insight and guide the young trio on gameday.
The second edition of 7AFL Kids Call (Round 19) saw a streaming increase of over 70% on 7plus Sport compared to the opening Round 15.
In a first for Australian sporting codes and supported by Nintendo, the 7AFL Kids Call is designed to attract younger people to 7plus Sport, while at the same time unearthing some of Australia’s youngest and brightest Australian football commentary stars.
Alex, the 2024 AFL Auskicker of the Year, who takes huge inspiration from Bruce McAvaney, currently calls senior football in South Australia each Saturday, and will be once again based in the commentary box alongside Ned.
“Calling for 7AFL Kids Call is a dream come true. I’ve learnt a lot, made lots of new friends and Ned and Indie have been awesome to work with too,”
– Alex said.
“I hope to continue my career calling AFL for many years to come and I can’t thank Channel 7 enough for this experience.”
The son of current St Kilda Assistant Coach, Brendan Bolton, Ned has already shown a flair for his game day analysis and interviewing style through his popular “Roaming Bolts” series inspired by 7AFL’s Roaming Brian.
Indie will be back on deck to deliver all the latest news, interviews and insights from the boundary with coaches and players.
Seven Network Head of Sport – Digital, Kirsty Bradmore, said:
“7AFL Kids Call continues to be a huge success and Alex, Ned and Indie have showcased what’s possible to create truly engaging, informative and fun content for kids and families alike.
“We’re thrilled to welcome both Alister Nicholson and Joel Selwood to the final edition of 7AFL Kids Call. Our young stars couldn’t be in better hands.
“In what will be a blockbuster match between Hawthorn and Collingwood, we cannot wait to deliver the 7AFL Kids Call nationally to children and families all over Australia,”
– she said.
Following Thursday’s game, which will be streamed nationally, minis from the match will be available on the 7AFL Kids Call hub on 7plus Sport.
This year marks the first time Australians can stream AFL footy for free on 7plus Sport and access an impressive array of new shows, offering footy fans incredible AFL content seven nights of the week.

Who do you think will win the 2025 Toyota AFL Premiership? Collingwood, because they have a wide age range, have started well concerning injuries and have a fairly easy run home. They have experience with Finals and won the flag in 2023, so I think they have a good chance
Who do you think will win the 2025 Brownlow Medal? While it’s a little too early in the season, I think Nick Daicos has a good chance to win the Brownlow. He plays a great game and is so impactful around the ball
