Analysis for Total TV (18 December, 2022) and Overnight (25 December, 2022) ratings.

TOTAL TV – Total People

There seems to be an issue with the OzTam ratings data with zero recorded in the entire BVOD section, leading to an almost across the board 0% uplift for most programs. The report featured below will be figures for the combined metro and regional numbers.

Seven News – Sunday was on top at #1 with 1,359 000 viewers. Seven’s Cricket: First Test – Australia v South Africa Day 2 Session 3 was #2 with 1,077 000 fans. Seven’s Cricket: First Test – Australia v South Africa Day 2 Tea was #3 with 898 000. Seven’s Cricket: First Test – Australia v South Africa Day 2 Session 2 was #4 with 892 000. Seven’s Cricket: First Test – Australia v South Africa Day 2 Lunch was #6 with 652 000. Seven’s Cricket: First Test – Australia v South Africa Day 2 Session 1 was #9 with 610 000. Seven’s Cricket: Big Bash League – Melbourne Renegades v Sydney Thunder was #10 with 550 000. Weekend Sunrise – Sunday was #12 with 375 000. Seven’s Cricket: Big Bash League – Melbourne Renegades v Sydney Thunder Post Game was #18 with 288 000. Weekend Sunrise – Sunday Early was #19 with 286 000. Seven’s Cricket: First Test – Australia v South Africa Day 2 Pre Game was #20 with 283 000.

Nine News Sunday was in the unusual position of #5 with 867 000. Snackmasters – Sunday was #11 with 515 000. 60 Minutes Summer was #12 with 435 000. Weekend Today – Sunday was #23 with 235 000. A repeat of Under Investigation with Liz Hayes was #24 with 235 000. Nine News: First at Five was #27 with 219 000. RBT was #30 with 185 000.

The Sunday Project 7pm was #14 with 312 000. 10 News First Sunday was #15 with 296 000. The Graham Norton Show was #17 with 294 000. The movie, Top Gun was #22 with 239 000. The Sunday Project 6:30pm was #25 with 231 000. 10 News First Sunday 6pm was #29 with 210 000.

ABC News Sunday was #7 with 644 000. A repeat of Death in Paradise was #8 with 625 000. The movie, Jackie was #21 with 275 000. Antiques Roadshow was #26 with 229 000. A repeat of The ABC Of was #28 with 211 000.

2022 FIFA World Cup Final: France v Argentina (Live) was #16 for SBS with 296 000.

TOTAL TV – 25-54

Snackmasters was a winner in this demographic, placing #5 with 225 000. The movie, Top Gun was #13 (vs #22 in total people) with 113 000 viewers. A repeat of Death in Paradise was #25 for the ABC with 64 000 viewers, a long way from #8 in the total people rankings.

OVERNIGHT RATINGS


Analysis

Seven News – Sunday was the #1 program across the 5 metro cap city markets with a clean sweep win in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth on this Christmas Day. The movie, Love Actually was at #7 with 285 000. A new episode of Dog Patrol was #8 with 285 000 as well. The Alinta Energy Christmas Pageant 2022 was #12 1ith 135 000. An encore of Woolworths Carols in the Domain was #13 with 131 000. The movie, National Lampoon’s Vacation had 87 000 viewers.

Nine News Sunday was #2 overall with no wins in any market. The traditional annual Christmas movie, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation was #5 with 311 000. The movie, National Lampoon’s Vegas Vacation was #9 with 218 000. The King’s Christmas Message was watched by 151 000 on Nine. An encore of Carols by Candelight delivered 113 000 fans.

A look back on 2022 repeat episode of The Cheap Seats aired on 10 at 8:05pm in Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth and 8:30pm in Sydney and Melbourne to 62 000 viewers. A hilarious double encore Christmas episode of Ghosts aired, with the first episode on 52 000 and the second on 46 000.

HM The King’s Christmas Message on ABC was #3 overall with 414 000. ABC News on Christmas Day was #4 with 398 000. The Royal Variety Performance 2022 was #6 with 310 000. Miss Fisher and the Crypt of Tears was #16 with 108 000.
