Friday Ratings – Gardening Australia tops non news prime time in overnights and tops the same category in Total TV

Analysis for Total TV (30 September, 2022) and Overnight (7 October, 2022) ratings.

Total TV

ABC was a star performer in Total TV landing in 7th position overall, rising 16% for a total audience of 677 000. The six positions above were news and current affairs. The movie that followed it, Misbehaviour rose 26% to 421 000.

Better Homes and Gardens on Seven was 8th in the rankings, just behind Gardening Australia, increasing by 6% to 655 000.

On Nine, Ray Warren: Calling Time rose 18% to 290 000.

10’s The Living Room only rose by 4% to grab a total tv audience of 347 000. The encore of Have You Been Paying Attention rose 14% to 302 000.

In network shares Nine won a tight race with a 29% share, with Seven on 28.2%, ABC on 17.3%, 10 on 15.5% and SBS on 10%.

In primary channel shares, Seven won with 21%, Nine on 19.1%, ABC on 12.1%, 10 at 9.1% and SBS on 4.6%.

7two was the highest of the multi channels at 3.5% with 9Gem in second at 3.3%

Analysis

Nine won the network night last night less than a point ahead of Seven, but then Seven won primary channel almost 2 full points against Nine.

Nine News won in Sydney and Brisbane last night. A Current Affair had an impressive Friday audience of 527 000.Taronga: Who’s Who in the Zoo performed well against BH&G on Seven with 330 000 viewers.

Seven News was was #1 nationally and in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth. Better Homes and Gardens had 382 000 viewers with just 8000 viewers separating it and Gardening Australia.

10 had 236 000 viewers for the soon to depart The Living Room.

ABC had 386 000 for Gardening Australia and 305 000 for the debut of Frankly which quite frankly(!) deserved a bigger audience. It will be interesting to see the Total TV numbers next week.
